Fountainhill Estate — Hotel in uMshwathi Local Municipality

Fountainhill gave us the most incredible and memorable weekend.

We hosted a small wedding ceremony on this beautiful estate. Before I go into all the detail, I wanted to say the biggest thank you to Monique and the staff who went truly above and beyond to make our wedding one of the happiest days for our lives and that of our families too.

All our guests raved about the accomodation. Spacious, elegant, and ultra comfortable, complete with little luxuries like chocolates on pillows, a bar fridge, a towel heating rack and cute bath/shower toiletries. We stayed in the Blue Crane suite and it was wonderfully romantic.

The kitchen had all the equipment we needed and more. The calm and welcoming energy of the dining room facilitated all of our meals and was happily returned to every time. Thank you to the cleaning staff who washed all the dishes (and also for ironing my post-ceremony dress at the last minute !).

The chapel, with golden light streaming in from the windows, was the perfect place to walk down the aisle. I loved ringing the bell as we exited, joined by the sweet swallows flying around.

We captured some breathtaking moments around the reserve, our favourites being the dam during sunset and the top view overlooking the gorge and surrounding farmland.

The outside area had an impressively sized braai and grid, which the guys really enjoyed, as well as jumping in the pool to cool off. Our fireside chats and celebrations lasted well into the night, amazingly well sound proofed from the rooms!

It was all so hassle-free and relaxed, and the management really are "in your corner". A refreshing change from many other venues, which are so stringent and feel like they just want to get the most money out of you. A special thank you for helping make one of the rooms disability-friendly too.

We didn't want to leave and could easily re-live the day again and again. Thank you...

Cozy suits in an old farm school. Had a great stay, but we almost gave up trying to book: they take ages to get back to you, so if you’re willing to persist, you might be able to get a booking. We also found no-one on arrival- only an unlocked door. Once again, the phone was not answered and my message not returned. Perhaps that’s how it works there, but it felt a little odd. We just left the key in the door….as...

A group of us needed accommodation as were competing in a cycle event at Harburg. We were all very pleased with the quality of this venue. Great communication from the hosts, excellent security, lovely well appointed rooms.....and the bonus of some beautiful wildlife on the estate.....highly reccomend if you are staying...
