Fantastic stopover point. Conveniently located just off the N1, this seems to be a very popular spot to stay the night before continuing on a journey. Most of the other guests had been here before. We stopped here on our journey to Lesotho and stayed in the stables. We stayed here at the end of winter, and this was the only accomodation we stayed in SA that actually had heating in the rooms and also a heated mattress pad. It was -5C at night and we were very comfortable and cozy.
They also have a very cozy communal sitting area and bar where you can socialize with other guests. Dinner was absolutely amazing! We had the traditional Karoo lamb and it did not disappoint. Dinner was 250R per person and you will get a starter, a lovely salad, a main and sides, and dessert.
Breakfast is included and they had some great options and even an option to take breakfast to go if you are leaving very early.
Lots of kind employees and service is top notch. Grant (one of the owners) also gave us some great tips for the rest of our trip. If this is on your route, you must stay and definitely eat here!...
Read moreFrom now on my favourite overnight stop near Colesberg. The ups: Feel: Quiet, peaceful, beautiful. Service: Next-level. Manager Patricia is like a tonic for weary travellers. Patricia personally welcomed us upon arrival, and explained the accommodation options. We picked the old stables, which include breakfast. Patricia brought fresh milk, and offered ice cold beverages. The owners are hands on and very helpful. Rooms: The rooms are really well-appointed. I especially admired the many quirky and elegant touches - stylish and interesting. Food: I asked for a sandwich (not even on the dinner menu), and wow. A beautifully presented artwork of a sandwich was whipped up. Breakfast is wholesome and delicious with fresh farm produce. The downs: Actually none. If I had to change anything, perhaps a little more vanity space close to the basin. All in all a top choice for staying over. We will...
Read moreSuch welcoming and friendly hosts. They went an extra mile to accommodate us even though our camper did not fit through the main entrance and was too big to park right next to the stables.
The farm is breathtaking! Such peace and tranquility. Sheep in neat camps. Beautiful plants. We were lucky enough to see it after recent rain. Most incredible clear view of the night sky and stars. Gorgeous historical house. The fascinating history is also provided in a file inside the cottage.
The cottage is very cosy and quaint. Even though it’s self-catering, they still provided some muffins, yoghurt and rusks. Comfortable shower and bed, beautifully decorated. Delicious, clean water that can be drunk straight from the tap.
In future we won’t only see it as a stopover, but a...
