Nkwazi Lake Lodge is one of the most beautiful and spectacular places I have yet visited in my life. From the hands-on involvement of the owners and their families to the dedication of the cleaners and ground staff you will have a difficult time trying to find anything like this. The kitchen staff are definitely some of the best in the country and we ended up looking forward to every meal everything from the vegetables that are perfectly cooked to the venison meat that tastes like tender beef we literally over indulged in every meal just because it was simply that good. The view of Lake Nkwazi is just breathtaking both at sunrise and sunset but throughout the day just looking on the water will calm down even the most stressed person. While you're there you will have to go on at least one game drive but I can definitely recommend the sundowner cruise on the lake as well as a tiger fishing trip with one of the lodge's best fishing guides, they all know the bush well and have unbeatable indigenous knowledge of the plants and animals that you will encounter on your trip. From animals walking around the lodge in and between the bungalows to the neat and clean reception areas and the most enjoyable adventure trips on the lake and in the Bush. It is also a well known gathering area for locals who come to visit the watering hole especially when there's a Rugby match or other large sports events on the TV. Even the food and service at the bar is excellent and I would if I could just have booked myself in there for the whole duration of the upcoming Rugby world cup from first kick off to final. I don't think it's possible to get tired of the view or the clean rooms or the food or the excursions. If you're ever in that area of the country it's a must visit and must stay longer than planned type of venue. If you're from abroad and are considering your options do not hesitate to visit and stay at Nkwazi Lake Lodge. Definitely a 5...
Read moreA brilliant nature environment where the local animals such as Hippos; Zebra; Rhinos; Elephant; and a wide variety of bush buck and even crocodiles can be seen here up close and in their own natural environment. The staff and employees of this establishment always go above and beyond what they are needed to do and all with welcoming smiles on their faces. The food and drinks are great with utter superd views over the jozini lake. Of course if you are going there for the renowned tiger fishing, you are in for a thrill as the natural ecosystem is well maintained and incredibly ubundent with large species of tiger fish being the main target as well as smaller species showing that the river has a strong healthy system for the fish to grow and become larger. The largest fish we caught here was a 5kg female tiger fish (as shown in one of the photos attached) The launch site is well maintained as well as the docking area for the all the boats. Overall an immaculate experience that I would recommend everyone doing atleast once. I will definitely be coming back. 5 stars without a...
Read moreWe have stayed at this lodge before, in the original accommodation, This time, encouraged by some misleading photos on their Facebook page, we booked their new self catering bungalows. These turned out to be entirely unready to be let. They were unsafe, windows not possible to close and doors very hard to lock, my husband had to use brute force to do so. Uncomfortable, poorly lit, badly and cheaply equipped, septic tank smell on the deck. Shower that didn't work, I could go on and on . . . The location remains good, the fishing was not but then it's early in the season. The management put everything I had to say down to teething troubles, well at the prices they charge they should make sure the accommodation is fit to be let before doing so. I do not recommend, if you wish to stay there use the original...
