We loved the location when we first arrived. We found that in the Chinese room the curtains were so badly rotten they were ripping as you pull them to open or close. Bathroom lights cannot switch off, they are faulty so stay on the entire time. Lights outside the doors don't work so came back each night in pitch blackness. Our friends managed to have one short shower the first night but only one person, we reported it the next morning when we had breakfast before leaving for the day. When we got back we were told there was actually nothing wrong so our friends tried to shower and only had enough hot water for a half a shower, rinsed off with cold water, second person had no hot water at all. Their fridge was completely frozen solid and closed when we arrived the first day. We were there for 3 nights. Second day reporting water problem and they found that the gas bottle was empty... To pay that price for a room and only one person can shower for two days....? In our room something went wrong with the toilet at the back pipe and sewage water leaked back into the bathroom all over the floor during the night, what a disgusting smell and sight to wake up to in the morning. Lots of mould growing around the joints of the shower. We never saw the owner and the manager was only found by asking where they were so we could talk to them. No proper management, no owners in sight. The breakfasts were excellent and Sylvie was very professional and helpful. I would never stay here again. We took two rooms for 3 nights. China room and grey room. Pool water was opaque so we decided not to swim, it...

I don't know how to describe this amazing place. It's just incredible. We stayed here with friends and family after our wedding, and it was spectacular.

The rooms are beautiful, mine had a fireplace as well. It was super lux. The shower worked great, and I also took a bath with an awesome view.

Carry is an amazing caretaker and manager, she made sure we were well taken care of. We had incredible breakfasts each morning..... Eggs made to order.... English breakfast if you wanted.... All the yogurts and fruits..... Amazing coffee. Simply unreal.

Then she arranged an amazing banquet, family style meal for our group of 17. Carry and her staff knocked it out of the park so much that we couldn't finish it all, despite my best attempts. They even arranged to have ostrich steaks!! And one of my faves... Pesto pasta and sausages!

The location is a bit far out from the city, and even Stellenbosch proper, so I recommend you get a shuttle or get my boy Lwazi to shuttle you or take tours. The wineries are not too far, so you will definitely have an amazing time.

Overall, the place is so beautiful.... The price seems criminal....

We booked and paid for a family group of 22 people to stay at Hawksmoor house for a weekend. When our guests started arriving to check-in on the Friday afternoon, they were informed that the guesthouse has been without electricity for 5 days due to cable theft, and that there was no indication of when power would be restored. There was no offer to help us find alternative accommodation nor any notification of this issue other than an email that was sent to us earlier on the day of check-in. Other than this absolute shocking non existent customer service, the property is also not well looked after, another indication of poor management. To date the manager has not provided us with the owners' contact details. Which is a pity, because I doubt that they are aware of how their property is managed. We found alternative accommodation which of course was more expensive due to the...

"We only stayed here for one night, but it was absolutely amazing! If you enjoy being away from the hustle and bustle of the city and towns, I highly recommend coming here. The breakfast was excellent, offering a good selection of delicious options. The beds were very comfortable; however, I wished there was a fan available during the summer. The tranquility of the surroundings was delightful, and I appreciated the quiet ambiance. Additionally, there is a swimming pool, although I didn't get a chance to swim this time. When I return for another stay, I will definitely take advantage of the pool."

A beautiful place to stay with beautiful views. The scents when you are outside are just amazing. Jasmin, lavender etc. You are surrounded by nature and horses. The house does breakfast but for the rest you can use the kitchen to prepare your own meals and use the fridge to store things. There is a honesty bar with their own wines.
