Makapa Lodge — Hotel in Western Cape

This is a fabulous place to stay. The lovely couple who own Makapa Lodge are very personable but respectful of your privacy. The breakfasts are superb with fruit, yogurt, granola, mixed cheeses, meats, dried fruits, sausage, bacon and eggs & toast cooked to order. Make sure to ask for their ZA “jerky”. We stayed in the suite with the king-sized bed which was quite lovely with a superb bathroom & shower. Earl Grey Tea & coffee in the room. Room service was delivered discreetly every day. They have a pool available but we did not avail ourselves. Their property backs up to a reserve. Their property has many species of birds including Sugarbirds and Sunbirds. Jimmie is a font of information on birding sites. Ask him for his personal map to the waste water facility with reclamation ponds teeming with birds. You won’t find it any other way. We saw a gorgeous flock of Greater Flamingos. We spent a fabulous week here and would come back in a heartbeat. What a great experience and 4outstanding service from Vivienne and Jimmy.

Once we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Jimmy, a wonderful man with a brilliant sense of humour who immediately made it known that i we needed anything, we should feel free to ask.

We were looking for a great seafood restaurant in the area and Jimmy and Vivienne gave us a few options. The one we chose was based in Kalk bay and my wife and I had some of the most amazing seafood we have ever had and it was perfect for the fact that this was our first night alone without the kids in months.

We had an amazing nights rest followed by the best tasting breakfast made by Vivienne and Jimmy themselves. They are an amazing team and made us feel like we were at a home away from home.

I would like to share my experience at Makapa Lodge over the weekend. Lets Go!!!!

Myself and my husband decided to go away abit as a break from our kids, like we all do from time to time.😊 The warm welcome we received from Jimmy and Vivienne was perfect. We then booked into our room and it was clean, neat and beautiful. The warm water pool was unexpected and amazing. We had a peaceful quiet nights rest and headed for breakfast upstairs to start a new day. Once again warm welcomes, jokes and laughter all the way. We saw some wild animals while having breakfast which just ended everything off perfectly.

Oh, the resturants advised was excellent!
