We stayed at Maleki for 10 days in December. It was one of the WORST guesthouse stays i have ever had. NEEDS SERIOUS TLC! UNFRIENDLY HOST, Run down and shabby, needs much upgrading, situated at a noisy intersection and unfriendly host! FLIES AND FIRE ANTS! See photos. I was not expecting 5star as i know it is a rustic stay buy what we got was totally unacceptable! 1. Martina was extremely rude and unwelcoming . (my puppy had chewn the corner of a blanket which i apologized and agreed to pay her the R1000 To replace it, no problem). however when i did not send POP within a few hours, she came to our unit and was shouting at me and so so rude. take note, i was still booked in for another 5 days!! This is NOT the way to treat anyone let alone a paying guest! 2. It is not Pet Friendly: she told us to keep our dogs on a leash which is absolutely fine, but then she allowed her dog to run around and it attacked my puppy whilst I was walking my pup on her leash. She did not even apologize! 3. it was also unpleasant to walk our dogs as there is absolutely no grass, just sand and loads of fire ants which attacked us and our dogs. 4. the swimming pool is in front of her home so it is not private . also the so called pathway From the cottage down to this pool is Just hot sand. Very untidy and unkempt . 5. maleki is situated on a very busy road and all you hear is the constant noise of trucks and motorcycles . 6. The photos are very misleading . IT sounds idyllic and it definitely is not. There is absolutely no shade around the cottages so you cannot use the stoep between 9am and 6pm. 7. We also wanted to have a braai at the al fresco table as in the pictures on the website . However its in disrepair . Roof slats are falling down, braai is full of junk etc. 8. The cottage needs serious upgrading. kitchen cupboards look dirty and are old. The plaster on the cottage is broken off in some places and just looks tired and old and dated. The kitchen counter is unhygienic as its just a piece of board that has been varnished so its rough and shabby 9. FLIES FLIES FLIES. Due to the horses on neighboring property there are a ridiculous amount of flies. I live on a farm so i am used to flies, but this was ridiculous . They need to spend the money and spray the property for flies and fly larvae . There are solutions to this problem! 10. See photos of entrance to property . So unkempt and untidy .

What a lovely place. The owner, Erica was very friendly, welcoming and professional! If we come through that way again we will be staying over again.

We stayed in one of the two apartments in the cottage at the front of the property. They are furnished and decorated with much sense of detail and loving care and are well equipped, with a nice view into the olive field. The hosts are very friendly, there is a small area with pet pigs and geese further back near the main house and other rooms (a bit more basic from what we‘ve seen).|Sadly the plot is relatively small and the cottage is only about 50 m from the intersection of two roads which are quite frequented on weekdays, so it is relatively noisy. There was a shebeen or church somewhere close with loud music until late at night on the weekend. Plus sadly the cottage is not too well insulated, so as there are two aparments (Kalamata and Nocerella) in the building, you hear the neighbours quite distinctly.|Otherwise a nice stay amongst wine and...

Martina, owner of Maleki, is the BEST host EVER!! She went out of her way to accommodate is when we suddenly had to leave.....until we got back again! Always with a smile! Because we booked for a month, she replaced the small bar fridge with a fridge / freezer combination - what a nice gesture! While they are still renovating piece by piece, they also started exchanging the fridges from the other units. We are so proud of the whole family, making South Africa their new home. I am really excited for them, to see what they will achieve with Maleki. Good luck, beautiful family! Willkommen,...
