The setting is Idyllic, but for a weekend that cost us R5000 for four adults, the cottage was disappointing. It is run-down and not clean. The bathroom is also not on suite but rather in suite and I am not particularly fond of having an open toilet in my bedroom. The one side of the shower was missing and it was secured at the top with cable ties. All the towel rails are missing and have not been replaced. Perhaps due to the fact that the cottage is pet friendly, the one couch in the lounge was so unpleasant that we covered it with a blanket before we used it. The oven looked as if it has not been cleaned in a long time so we did not use it.
Upon complaining about the sticky floor and the bats that live in the lounge, we were told that it is a farm and that our complaint will be given through to the staff. When we asked that it at least be cleaned a reluctant staff member was dropped off with a bottle of wine but no contact with the owners.
She left mid-clean and left her cleaning equipment in the lounge. Very strange!
Altogether very sad that no capital is ploughed back into what would be a piece of paradise if just looked after.
Definitely not value for...
Read moreWe had technical difficulties and ended up double booking accommodation for the last weekend in August (this was in April). We realised our mistake within 24hrs and tried to cancel with Wenamarie and she refused to refund even part of our R1500 deposit - despite the fact that the booking was less than 24hrs old and 4 months in advance! We understand the need to terms and conditions to protect against bad behaviour by guests, but we had made a mistake and tried to correct it asap - and would have left her with many months in which to be re-booked. Even a partial refund would have been very appreciated. Her cold responses definitely leaves one wondering just how hospitable the place can be. We decided to forfeit the deposit rather...
Read moreVery beautiful little tucked away stone cabin. There are a few bad reviews on Google and I guess the owners took note as the place is in excellent shape. The welcome pack was very generous too (homemade bread, butter, jam and a bottle of wine). It is in a very beautiful location next to the river. Perfect for our two medium sized dogs to run around as it's fully fenced in. The only oddity would perhaps be the toilet in the main bedroom but there is a shared bathroom you can use instead if that bothers you. Highly...
