Our camping club decided to spend our Xmas rally at Fynbos. We have never camped there before as a club. Maurice, who runs the campsites, was very accommodating in allowing us to visit the place beforehand to check its suitability for our caravans. Our stay was very pleasant. During the day we explored Wolseley. Surprisingly lots to do and see there. In the evenings we sat around the central fire pit on sites 7 & 8. The ablution block was small but clean. We also made use of the lapa area next to the splash pool for our meetings - very convenient. Some of us had breakfast at the Fynbos Cafe and Farmstall which is conveniently located a very short distance from the campsites. Staff were very friendly and courteous. The breakfast were wholesome and substantial. We also met Peter who runs the farmstall. He too was very friendly and always came to our table for a quick chat.||Overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. Thank you Maurice and Peter!||If you have young children, they will definitely enjoy their stay as there are lots of animals for them to interact with,a play area and a splash pool. One thing I do need to point out, there are no water taps on the individual campsites. Running water is only available at the ablution block /...
Read moreAbsolutely spectacular campsite nestling in the valley near Tulbagh in the Winelands of the Western Cape. First and foremost, Fynbos Guest Farm is an animal sanctuary, home to more than 100 animals including zebras, springbok, horses, donkeys, pigs, goats, sheep, ducks and geese, rabbits and guinea pigs, llamas and alpacas, tortoises, emus and ostriches. There is also a huge aviary with a stunning collection of beautiful birds. Dotted around the animal pens, the owners have laid out beautiful gardens which are a simply stunning place to wander around. There is an extensive area of natural fynbos vegetation (with easy, laid out walking trails) and glorious views of the mountains. The camp site is very well maintained with a great ablutions block and electricity, and braii areas at each site. It's a perfect place for kids, with playground and small swimming pool (as well as the opportunity for petting and feeding lots of animals!) You can buy fire wood on site, as well as plants from the owners' nursery. It's an easy drive from nearby Tulbagh or Ceres. The owners are incredibly helpful and all the staff are very friendly. (If you don't want to camp, there are also three lovely little self-catering cottages)....
Read moreWe enjoyed every minute of our 5 days stay on campsite 5 starting with a visit from Moriti, the friendly Great Dane, while we were setting up camp. The farm is an animal sanctuary with lots of wild and domestic animals being cared for. ||Wickus, the caretaker manager took very good care of us and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. ||The campsites are laid out in such a way that most of them give the feeling of privacy while still close to all the amenities. The shared ablutions are small but spotlessly clean with even hand towels and soap provided. There is a very nice communal lapa area with a small pool to cool off when it gets hot.||There is also a small shop (that runs on an honesty basis) and the town is only a few minutes' drive away for anything else you need.||Another plus point is that it is pet friendly.||The only negative is that there is some noise from the main road, but the birds try their best to drown it out. 😊||Highly...
