Kunje Guest Farm — Hotel in Witzenberg Local Municipality

After a long and dusty day on the road through the Biedouw Valley, we arrived at this little piece of paradise here on earth. The surrounding mountains stood magnificent at sunset and again at at sunrise. Our "Welcome to Kunje Guest Farm" was warm and sincere. The Homestead Guest House was beautiful and the place was spotless. A beautiful Orchard walk was just the medicine we needed to stretch our legs and clear our heads. We spent a magnificent night there, and was well rested for our massive drive back to Boknes the next morning (920km). We met the owner, Theunis Hanekom, the next morning before our departure. What a real gentleman he was! We will certainly be back for a Long weekend stay in the near future! SO much to see and do, so little time! A definite "YES" from...

This place was such a surprise!!! For the price payed we were astonished. Very basic interior, but that does not matter....because you would want to look outside the window ALL THE TIME!!!! There is a fireplace inside the chalet, perfect for a cold weekend away in the mountains! There is also a TV, but please don't waste your time in this beautiful place..enjoy the natural surroundings! Chalet was clean and neat (and had white sheets-something I prefer whenever I travel). Don't expect 5 star luxury, rather expect a welcoming cottage in the middle of the beautiful mountains...at night, when you look outside your window, you will see 5 billion star luxury anyway.

There was also home made rusks (beskuit) and jam (konfyt) on sale in the challet...REALLY...

Absolutely amazing! Kunje is one of those good-for-the-soul type of getaways. The serenity is glorious and I appreciate that there's no wi-fi. It's the type of place where you find (re)connection; either with nature, yourself, or with those around you.

The facilities will leave you wanting for nothing. The welcome pack upon arrival is a lovely touch and includes maps and info of the surroundings. Hiking route starting points are clearly indicated, although route markers along the trail and information boards at sites of the bushmen paintings would be a nice touch.

But will we be back though? We didn't want to leave, so that's a resounding YES! See you soon again, Kunje.
