I recently had the pleasure of celebrating my 30th birthday at this incredible accommodation, and I cannot express how wonderful the experience was from start to finish.
Cleanliness: From the moment we arrived, I was impressed by how super clean everything was. The attention to detail in maintaining a spotless environment really set the tone for our stay. It was evident that the management takes pride in keeping the accommodation in pristine condition.
Amenities: The place was exceptionally well-equipped, offering everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Whether it was the fully stocked kitchen, high-quality linens, or modern appliances, every aspect was thoughtfully considered. This made it easy for us to settle in and feel right at home.
Staff: One of the standout features of our stay was the amazing staff. Sarah is absolutely incredible! She provided us with the best service I've ever experienced. Raptor Rise is situated about 8 minutes from the town centre.
The rooms are open plan, with the exception of the bathroom, and consist of a lounge, bedroom, private bathroom and kitchen area. The unit is equipped with an air conditioner with both a hot and cold function making your stay comfortable no matter what the weather.
The views from our unit were extraordinary especially of the Winterhoek Mountains and the nature reserve towering over the establishment like a knight keeping watch.
Our hostess and the owner of Raptor Rise, Averil, was phenomenal and made sure that we had everything we needed.
Lots of cupboard space and a king-size bed with extra blankets made the room a pleasure to sleep in. The lounge area was nice and big with a sleeper couch and bedding in the cupboard. It also had huge windows with a fantastic view of the pool. The kitchen with all the usual appliances was small but very self sufficient. The airconditioning unit although situated over the entrance door in the kitchen managed to cover the whole area of the accommodation. We had a small stoep that was partially covered and fitted with a table and chairs as well as a weber braai. A great space to spend the afternoon listening to the birds, spotting some wildlife or simply taking in nature in its best form.
As it was our anniversary, we opted for a quiet picnic with a picnic basket from Readers Restaurant organised by Tulbagh Tourism Bureau. Simply delicious!

The setting is very picturesque and has lovely views of the surrounding mountains. We enjoyed having a walk around meeting the friendly horses and sheep (and the on-site brown Labrador who was a delight!).
The pool area was small but perfectly formed. Comfy beds and plenty of shade available. We were lucky to have the pool to ourselves during our stay.
Our accommodation (The Barn) was outstanding. The kitchen in particular had everything you could possibly think of- large oven, air-fryer, full sized fridge and freezer, dishwasher, ample glasses/plates/pans, salt and pepper, tea/coffee etc. The Barn only sleeps 2 people, but you could cook a full meal for 6 people quite easily. A braai and fire pit were also provided in the private garden (firelighters and wood provided at no cost). Small touches like ice and milk being provided really set this place apart for us.
