엠버 퓨어힐 호텔 앤 리조트 제주 — Hotel in Jeju

We had a very nice stay at this beautiful hotel. It was our favorite hotel during our vacation in Korea, and we are so sorry that it was not perfect due to some shortcomings that we want to describe.||The hotel is located in the middle of Jeju Island, about a 25 minute drive from the airport. It is in the middle of nowhere in a very quiet area with a beautiful view of Jeju.|It is a perfect place to relax and unwind, but not the best place for guests who want to go shopping:-)||The whole hotel is set up as a very exclusive boutique luxury hotel with a lot of attention to detail, including nice sculptures, pictures, background music and scents, but also many nice ideas in the rooms.||We had a 2-story Luna Villa, which provided an excellent basis for an ultra-luxury stay, but was spoiled by unnecessary shortcomings.||1. In our large villa, there was no room for a wardrobe on the main floor. My wife cried for the first 60 minutes because she thought she was too stupid to find a wardrobe in such a large premium villa. After checking with room service, we understood - there is simply no wardrobe. Unbelievable. This is a situation where some women will turn around and say - let's change the hotel :-) Especially considering the fact that this hotel could be visited by lot of newly married couples with a lot of luggage and no place to store it. I'm still shocked how such a mistake could happen in a hotel that was planned and designed with so much love and so many great ideas? |2. Our villa had a small outside bathtub (2x2 meters) made of concrete. It was not very deep (about 30 cm) but absolutely enough to relax and enjoy the beautiful view and the silence - great! ... Not really, if there is no concept where to put your head - there are no plastic pillows or any other solution for a real bath. After 20 minutes you get a very uncomfortable feeling trying to park your head on the pure concrete all the time. It's really a pity that this detail was also neglected.|3. Ok, if you cannot take a bath outside for a longer time, at least you can enjoy your stay on the terrace sitting on a comfortable leather chair... alone - because we missed the second chair! Why not to provide 2 chairs in Villa Luna - there is enough space on the terrace.|4. Ok, no problem, let's spend more time in a beautiful master bedroom looking out the window. Oh stop, we cannot do that, because it is not possible to flexibly open only half of the curtains. Curtains are fully automatic and offer you only 2 positions: either fully closed with now view, or fully open, so that not only you can enjoy the view of nature from your bed in the master room, but also your neighbors can enjoy a great view inside your master room. Here we would definitely prefer a manual, not automated solution to have flexible control over our privacy needs.|5. Ok, no problem - lets visit the children's room in the attic, which provides a nice view of the sky - excellent idea ... but be careful - the attic is low, so people higher than 175 centimeters will have serious problems visiting this floor without banging their head against the walls. Also, this is not a good design for a luxury hotel - excellent idea, but you should invest a little more in a higher roof level to make it comfortable for all guests.|6. It's a pity that the soft drinks in the minibar are not complementary (anymore). It won't cost you too much, but it would provide a much better experience for the guests.|7. We loved the bathroom - it was very large and comfortable, including great Dyson hair dryer. However, we missed a body lotion, which should also be a complimentary amenity.||The rooftop pool is great with excellent views of nature. It was by far the best hotel pool compared to other 5-star hotels we've stayed at in Korea, but by international standards it was still too small for a number of guests and a bit crowded, with difficulty finding even one free lounger. At least from a luxury boutique hotel we would expect more "space".||The breakfast at the hotel was really amazing. Very good selection of different foods, many specialty foods, excellent live cooking stations, good decoration and much more. It was really great and the best breakfast we had in Korea.|It's a pity that we couldn't try the dinner because it was not available for 2 nights during our short stay. We at least tried a la cart menu at a bar restaurant. The taste of the Hawaiian menu was okay, but did not leave a special impression. Although the view and decoration of the restaurant was excellent.|We thought, ok, it's apity that the dinner is not available, but lets order a afternoon tea set. Unfortunately is seems a bit compliated to prepare it, so you must order it one day in advance. But the main problem is that you are expected to eat it during 14:00 and 16:00. We asked if it would be possible to order it and eat it between 15:30 and 16:00 next day, after we come back from activities. But unfortunately it was not possible. Why such level of unflexibility? From the 5 star luxury hotel we would expect higher customer-orientation and flexibility. ||Overall, Amber Pure Hill Resort in Jeju is an excellent hotel with a lot of potential to be a pearl, a hidden hideaway, to spend a perfect relaxing vacation in a luxury hotel - and we are so sorry that we were not able to fulfill it. A hidden treasure. Tucked up the hill in a corner of Jeju, this is a fine, quiet resort to relax in. A 20min drive from city centre, 30min drive from airport, Amber resort has beautiful villas and equally charming surroundings (the pictures say it all). Once we checked in (at 8pm+), the floors of the villa were already warmed up to welcome us in the cold night. |The rooms were clean, well kept and looked new. Parquet flooring in the living room, warm stone flooring in the bedrooms. There were two bedrooms: one master bedroom with a queen size bed, en suite bathroom (standing bath); one guest room with matteress and blankets to sleep on the floor -- feeling of traditional Korean sleeping style. Fits our small group of 5 adults and 1 toddler nicely. Bedding is comfortable - firm matteress and soft fluffy pillows. Bathrooms are clean and new too. The toilet bowl is the most techy one that i have ever used in a hotel - toilet seat warmer, full controls bidet with blow function, auto-flush etc. The second bathroom outside is similarly equipped. TV in master bedroom.||Living room and kitchenette come with standard cooking facilities, though we didn't really use them. There was an automatic espresso machine but they did not manage to top up the coffee beans (only left enough to make one cup) on request..(did not pursue as we were rushing to go out). ||Nice small balcony looking out to the ranch nearby. |Car porch good for parking of 2 cars. ||Breakfast is simple and decent. Definitely not the 4-5 star hotel kinda spread, but certainly good enough for a filling and satisfying brekkie. Coffee at breakfast is somewhat not as good as the one made with espresso machine in own villa (so we should have repeated the request for beans should we have time). ||The surroundings of the villa is relaxing and beautiful. Surrounded by mountains and a horse ranch. Big open spaces for my 2.5 year old boy to run around. There is a fully equipped caravan at the corner of the field - seems like it is available for booking for a real stay. ||Overall splendid experience. Wish we had more time in Jeju. |Not a 5/5 star review because - breakfast could be better; would be awesome to have a kids playground at a corner of their huge open place; only accessible with own transport; quite several black crows around..||What we love- the clean and new rooms and the techy fittings; the beautiful open space; the serene surroundings; value...

This property has potential but unfortunately it falls way short. The property is on absolutely beautiful grounds with a stunning view of Jeju. You can tell that a lot of money went into the hotel when it was built but it doesn't look like they have spent much to maintain it since. The exteriors of all facilities were tired and in need of power washing and paint. The breakfast area windows were so fogged with age that they looked terrible. Carpets in the check in and breakfast area badly needed cleaning or replacing. Our small house had mold in every room. We had a large spider living in the curtains with a web that has been there for some time. Our door lock didn't work, we mentioned it to the front desk who promised to take care of it but it remained broken for the 4 days we were there. The heat in our room malfunctioned on two separate days leaving the room quite cold. Unfortunately this kind of thing is common in Korea, nice properties are built but never maintained after. I have become accustomed to it but this is an expensive place to stay. For the price they are charging the current state of the rooms are unacceptable. With a deep cleaning and some updates this could be a great place to stay. Unfortunately in it's current condition I couldn't recommend it and...
