Lotte Resort Buyeo — Hotel in South Chungcheong

This is a very family friendly resort that you will definitely want to bring your little one! It has an arcade, a convenient store, and a take-out food-court in the basement for your convenience. The main attraction is the water park Aqua Garden, which unfortunately is fitting for children up to 3rd grade at most. Older children may find this water park a bit childish and get bored quickly. The rooms are luxurious and very well maintained. Despite the great attributes, this resort only gets three stars because of its lackadaisical restaurant on the first floor. The restaurant employees were careless of their poor customer service and borderline rude. The restaurant has a kiosk you can order without contact, which we used to order our food. 5 minutes in the employee tells us to reorder since they cancelled our order because some of the food we ordered were no longer available. Moreover, the again told us that other items we ordered were not available after 10 minutes and told us to reorder because they again cancelled our order. This happened one more time, without sincere apologies or remedies. We only received a very soulless and automated "I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do" from the staff. Do not order here unless you confirm the food...

Plus sides -Underground parking lot was pretty spacious. -Whole establishment in general was new and pretty. -The room was spacious and neat. -Located in the vicinity of tourists’ attractions. -English instructions for fancy gizmos in the room (hvac, bidet)

Minus sides Oh boy... long rant ahead... the only reason I deducted a star: -HVAC unit works in a really weird way. Once it hits the designated temperature, it completely turns itself off. I am certain this was not the problem of dearie me, but the issues of the control scheme. There isn’t that many room for users to mess up in the first place, given that there aren’t that many buttons!

“No big deal” you may say, but for me, two following situations ensued: -It remained turned off until you switched it on again. Right now it is summer, so I had to wake up in two-hour interval. -When it turns on and off, it plays a tune. Catchy tune indeed, but when it rings right before you fall asleep, it sure doesn’t feel like a sweet lullaby.

Still, I am pretty sure that the problem might be limited to the room I stayed. Cannot possibly imagine they messed this...

Lotte Resort Buyeo definitely benefits from having zero competition for lodging options near its class as most places are motels near the bus terminal or simple guesthouses. For the outrageous price, the room is very basic and not well maintained (cracks on the toilet and water not draining well). The beds were comfortable which was about the only positive. While it's only 2 km from the town center, it's a 7 km drive as no bridge bisects the Geumgang River in the town center. It's popular with families that seem to pack a month worth of food for a weekend outing. This causes long waits at check in and at the elevators which is frustrating. There are always screaming children in the lobby and all other public areas which makes the stay quite unbearable for non-families. We couldn't get out of here...
