As 5 couples doing the Camino Walk from Finisterre to Santiago Compostela we were looking for a boutique styled rural accommodation at or near Negreira. We found this jewel of a place about 5 km from Negreira, booking 6 months in advance. The owners, Juan and Maria, will pick you up from Negreira and drop you back there to resume your walk. The accommodation, which has a traditional large Galician house aspect, has been well thought out and designed with lovely spacious rooms that have wonderful views of the countryside. Each room has its ensuite bathroom with a shower that you simply do not want to get out of after a long days walk. There is a drawing room which has facilities to help yourself to all types of tea and coffee, which we were craving for after arriving there in the late afternoon. All rooms are on the second floor but there is on room for persons with disabilities in the ground floor.||The property has a lovely secluded garden with varied fruit trees and shrubs, where we were able to sit in comfort and enjoy the vistas together with Juan’s best Albariño wine and beers, coupled with Serrano ham and chorizo, a great pre dinner appetiser. It also boasts a old renovated horrio (barn) which the family are very proud of. The family, including the owner’s parents, were always at hand to provide anything that we needed. We had to give our dinner selection orders when we checked in as the dishes are all prepared fresh. There was enough choice of starters, main course and dessert to cater for everyone’s tastes. We had a splendid night’s sleep. The breakfast was most enjoyable, again with excellent service from our hosts. They then drove all of us to Negreira to resume our walk. We were all full of praise for our hosts and for the accommodation and food and drinks they provided and so glad that we chose to stay there rather than in one of the more mundane hotel in Negreira, I would suggest you book well in advance if you fancy staying there and I am sure you will have no...
Read moreOf the places I stayed on the Camino de Finisterre, this one was definitely my favourite. It was the owner's childhood home, and has been very lovingly converted to a small, cosy, cute, and extremely comfortable hotel, while retaining its unique and quirky character in every inch. It's a bit off the Camino, but if you give them a ring, they'll pick you up in their van and drop you off again the next morning (if, like me, you're tempted to walk the extra 6km from Negreira, I'd advise against it - you have to follow a main road, and while there's a curb, some of the trucks hurtling towards me at great speed felt a bit menacing). ||But back to the hotel - the rooms and bathrooms are of a generous size, with various comfortable common areas, everything absolutely spotlessly clean. There are loads of really thoughtful touches, such as the coffee/tea making facilities in one of those, the blackout shutters on the windows, and the lovely porch/terrace, where you can watch the sun go down with a glass of whatever you fancy. The most special, I'd argue, are the showers with their side spouts and massaging function, pummelling the weary, aching bones of a tired pilgrim after a long day's walk in the most luxurious and soothing fashion. The owners are a really lovely couple, and cannot do enough for you; the food is tasty and extremely reasonably priced. I felt well looked-after and coddled after a long, hot, dusty day on the road. ||Thank you so much for a wonderful, comfortable night. Book with confidence: you...
