This is a very special place. The kind of place you come across that fits all your dreams of what you were looking for - and then, on arrival - exceeds them all! The long approach up an easy, well maintained, unpaved road builds up your feeling of excitement and wonder until you arrive at the beautiful old collection of buildings. Walk across the cobbled courtyard with its orange trees and enter the main hall, all dark wood and comfortable furniture. Your room (ours was large with two full length windows) may have a wood or stone floor and will certainly have an extremely comfortable bed and plenty hot water in your bathroom. The dining room - with its large log fire throwing out warmth - is spacious and beautiful. We really enjoyed the set menu and if you are a wine lover you will be delighted with the choice of good and fine wines.

Throughout your stay you will be treated with the utmost care and courtesy at the highest level of professionalism whilst maintaining a lovely warm and pleasant personal touch; this ethos radiates from owners and staff alike.

It is a rare and memorable experience to find a place like this and my friends and I will return for special times and occasions when we feel like treating ourselves. Highly...

This is our sixth stay at Cortijo del Marquez, one of our favourite places on earth. Every holiday - from our romantic ones, including our perfect honeymoon, to this one bringing our grown up children and father, have each been absolute heaven. Silvia and Elko are so warm, helpful and kind, and have thought of everything to make the hotel perfectly comfortable and utterly beautiful. We have now stayed in spring, summer and autumn and each have their own charm. We love the amazing chef prepared four course dinners and incredible wine list. The pool is stunning, the gardens beautiful. In spring swallows nest in the rafters and you hear nightingales, and see hoopoes, linnets and larks calling from the fields and olive groves and even can see eagles soaring high in the sky. There is a wonderful circular walk, that its hard to drag ourselves out of the hotel, but Granada is only half an hour away, and has much to offer. The beach is also a terrific day trip about an hour away, but lunch on the beach is worth the trip. I could go on and on. We feel so lucky to have this special place to come to, and having just left, are looking forward to our next...

Exemplary from beginning to end. We have just had a week at this glorious hotel, that we had great expectations of having read reviews, but which well and truly exceeded.||There were 10 of us staying at the hotel, across 4 rooms. The rooms were marvellous, tasteful and with the all important air conditioning. Gorgeous products provided it the bathrooms too. ||The hotel setting, pool and common areas are sublime. Absolute serenity, places of shade, and a perfect pool to actually swim a few lengths. In smaller hotels that seems to be a rarity.||The hosts are lovely people, kind, warm and provide great insight and local information. The staff are incredible, with amazing memories for any orders or special requirements. Faultless throughout.||And the piece de resistance, the USP above all else has to be the food. Just wow. The menu changes daily, with creativity and flair. We had some specific requirements including my own vegetarian peculiarity of no mushroom or aubergine, and that was accommodated perfectly. ||We know we have to return to this perfect hotel. Thank you to all...

This is the perfect retreat to explore Granada and the surrounding villages. A unique property set amongst extensive olive groves lends to ultimate peace and quiet. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, well appointed and spacious with a large private terrace. Views over the courtyard and surrounding farmland with the Sierra Nevada snowcapped peaks in the distance. You are made to feel welcome from the moment of your arrival. The owners have thought of every detail to make your stay perfect in every way. They are able to provide excellent and detailed advice on places to visit in the area. We did a mixture of hiking and touring small villages and towns. It was always a treat to return to the hotel at the end of the day to a beautifully prepared and presented dinner - the food is of the highest standard with plenty of variety of regional dishes. Eilko has curated an extensive and interesting wine cellar. Anyone interested in trying a variety of Spanish wines will be in heaven. We stayed at several places in Andalusia but this was our personal favourite and is highly recommended.

Incredibly beautiful!!!! It couldn't be better, simply a WOW. We stayed at your place 7 years ago and it was good then, and now you have improved it so much, all those details... Our room Aljibe, was just great, with wonderful views over green and calm fields with Sierra Nevada in the backdrop. The bathroom, with that unique bathtube. The restaurant for us was also new, great place with the chimneys. Excellent food and warm and gentle service. Elko, your bodega is really good. It was nice to enjoy different "caldos" from your selection. A big thank to both of you, for your hospitality, making us feel like home from the very first moment. Even our little baby had a good time and we all three really managed to rest over this weekend. Our best wishes.

Me and my parter had an amazing stay here for 4 nights in the beginning of September. As soon as we entered, we were warmly greeted by the wonderful owners and were absolutely gobsmacked by the beauty of this place, so much I might’ve shed a happy tear. The location is very rural surrounded by olive trees, providing the most peaceful setting for a relaxing holiday. Food was amazing - we really enjoyed the dinner menus and breakfast was superb too. The staff was very attentive and always willing to go the extra mile. Our stay was nothing short of specular and an all round 5 star experience. We’ll be thinking of this place for a long time and hopefully will be back soon!
