Love this camp site. we are a family with adventurous teens. We were given two pitches in high season for our caravan and because of the trees for shade, we were only just able to manoeuvre into one pitch manually but it was a bit tight. they have very large pitches at the end of the site for motor homes and I thought we had booked one of those but not able to go here. very clean toilets and showers. On site shop sells everything needed for breakfast and lunch, cash only. the restaurant opposite is ok for a good value meal. 3 courses, wine and water for 18E. Swimming pool lovely, no chlorine but slightly salty so no allergic reaction to chlorinated water. Its a 20 minute walk uphill into a very pretty medieval town with bars and restaurants. Way too tiring in the heat (35 degrees every day in August. 18 at night but still hot) but ok at night time to wander up to the restaurants, bars and for tapas. lots of river swimming near by in Río Vero or a drive away, just past Bierge, large car park at a restaurant, walk down steps to Salto de Bierge, (waterfall) you can either pay here to enter a large pool, you have to wads through the water with bags and it gets busy with large family groups or skip this and take the top path pst the kiosk to the pools further up for free. Can have a river spot to yourself. lots of organised Canyoning and rafting from camp site for all levels. Advanced level Canyoning available for those capable but with a very steep walk in to the get in point. Petrol station opposite the camp site and friendly staff who are happy to...
Read moreCampsite ok, clean, shade under olive trees, road nearby which doesn't get too much traffic at night. However, a dog (rather two large ones nearby) barking until the middle of the night. Another reviewer noted this and I was going to avoid this campsite, but fell upon it due to lack of signposting. Wish I had bothered to look for the other one now.
Complained of this in the morning - lady tried to pretend that it was a dog on the campsite, but no one would let their dogs do this. No way! I can't envisage that these dogs don't bark every night. Completely disturbed night, but lady said I could leave without paying. Would rather have paid 17 euros for a quiet night!
Read moreI have visited this campsite already three times and I shall come again next year.
This campsite is a great base-camp for activities in the area and walking distance from the lovely, picturesque historical village of Alquézar.
When arriving, keep in mind the Spanish siesta lunch break, or you may have to hang around for some time, before you can make camp. Alternatively, reserve in advance and agree upon your site number.
Some of the pitch-sites are a bit on the small side, particularly when you come with a camper or caravan. The way this campsite is organized, must predate "homes on wheels".
The toilet and shower facilities are comfortable and have heating when you come outside the summer. The campsite has a small grocery store, sports facilities and a play-ground for children.
The staff is very friendly and the campsite is clean and tidy.
Recently a swimming pool was added, which I guess in summer time is a welcome addition. I am concerned about the "upgrade" of the place though. If the management keeps renovation, I am concerned that the old style feel to this place (which makes this campsite so charming),...
