We stayed here (Eventually!) while on the last section of the Comino de Compostella. We were pre booked by our travel agent. Our main problem ws that the road signage, as we walked along the Comino, into Arzua, gave no indication at the turn-off on the main road. Our travel agent's directions were not the best, in hindsight, but the only sign we saw was way past the turn-off and led to more confusion. After a lot of walking and asking several locals, we eventually found it, down a side road, off a secodary road. The building itself is lovely; rough stone walls, old timber beams and tiled floors. This has all been constructed (or reconstructed?) in a very modern style and was quite nice. However the lady of the house made no attempt whatsoever to speak English, so I had to struggle, with my limited Spanish, to communicate. There was no dining room (we knew this in advance) but our hotel voucher said that the owner of the cottage de Lecer would transport us into Arzua, for a pre booked meal in a restaurant. Unfortunately, the lady would have none of that and told us we would have to walk or get a taxi. As we had just completed a 30km trek on the Comino to get there, we had to pay for a taxi, as the accommodation is a good 1-2 kms from the centre of Arzua. This only cost €4.00 each way so it wasn't a big deal but it added to the overall impression that the owners couldn't care less about us and what we were entitled to. We have taken this up with our travel agent and they are reconsidering their usage of...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews, despite traveling quite often—but Casa Rural Fogar de Lecer genuinely deserves the exception. I was deeply impressed by the experience and want to highlight just a few of the reasons why this place stands out: •Impeccable Cleanliness: Every corner of the house and the room was spotless. It’s clear that cleanliness is a top priority here, and it creates a peaceful, healthy environment. •Charming Beauty: The house is a beautiful blend of rustic charm and tasteful decor. From the architecture to the smallest design touches, everything contributes to an atmosphere of warmth and authenticity. • Perfect Location: Nestled in a tranquil setting along the Camino, it’s the ideal stop for rest and renewal. Whether you’re a pilgrim or a traveler, the location offers the perfect balance of peace and accessibility. •Thoughtful Details: What struck me most were the countless small details—both in the shared spaces and in the room itself. Every element is carefully considered to enhance your comfort and experience. •Exceptional Personal Attention: The hosts don’t just run a guesthouse—they welcome you into their home. Their kindness, care, and genuine hospitality make you feel seen, heard, and truly at ease.
If I ever had to live in a hotel long-term, I would honestly choose Fogar de Lecer. It’s that good. More than just a stay, it’s a place where you feel at home—and...
Read moreThis family house is a wonderful place stay managed managed by one of his owners, Conchi. Despite being at the outskirts of Arzúa, it is a very convenient hotel for pilgrims since the owners are always present and willing to move guests to Arzúa in their own cars. Special mention to Conchi, who is almost all day at the house taking care of all guests and serving many complimentary amenities: coffee, cakes, fruits, cheese and so on... also, they have a wonderful medkit available and both owners are always willing to assist. Going down to the hotel comfort, it is an very beautiful classic house brilliantly reformed and decorated. They have a wonderful garden and porch to enjoy during sunny days. All in all: a wonderful...
