Pazo de Brandeso is a 400yr old palace. It was wonderful to swim in their pool, and Raquel and the chef cooked a wonderfully delicious dinner and breakfast!
But I give Pazo de Brandeso a low rating because of the mosquitoes. My son and I stayed in Room 22. All was well until we were ready to go to sleep. Over the course of the night, we killed 17 mosquitoes. Mind you - the windows were closed so we don't know where those mosquitoes were hiding, but it was a restless evening. The following morning after a wonderful breakfast, it happened that the owner of Pazo was present. I told him about the mosquitoes and instead of listening to the nightmarish evening, he said, "Well, that's what happens in the countryside" and then connected me to Raquel to listen to my concerns as he walked away. Raquel listened empathetically as she shared my horror of that number of mosquitoes. I told her to advise the housekeepers of the blood stains on the walls and ceiling of the marks of the 17...
Read moreThis was the most amazing place our group of six Camino travelers stayed during our 550 mile tour of Camino Frances. We were on bikes; it is off the official Camino route but we grabbed a reservation at Pazo de Brandeso because we were a larger group and nothing else was available. The staff and host was incredibly helpful. The owner, Juan led us in his car in the morning to show us a better way to get to the the designated bike route for the Camino. This took about an hour of his time which most owners would never consider. He also spent a considerable amount of time the previous evening informing us of the history of the incredible property. The home was built in 1620 and the chapel predates that. At one time, one end of the house was even a headquarters for the Spanish Inquisition. Such incredible history! Just walking around in the home was very entertaining. The food and service was excellent on all levels; highly...
Read moreMyself and my friend , stayed here as a little treat one night as we where on the Camino . It is off the “the way” but a taxi over and back to the hotel is included in the price . Rachel was at the front desk and looked after us wonderfully . We also meet the owner who speaks English, he is very knowledgeable about the house, it’s surroundings and really cares that his guests are having a good time and want for nothing. The bedrooms are spacious and beautifully decorated in a country house/ Ralph Lauren style . The beds are really comfortable and the showers powerful, just what you need after all that walking . We had dinner and breakfast at the Manor and it was excellent value for money, and an nice experience in the formal dinner room . Just a word on the decor which is Country Manor nearly stately there is a lot of hunting trophies on the walls that might not be to...
