Unique and genuine experience of staying in a medieval tower (built in the 1200s). Beautifully renovated, with extreme attention to detail. The proprietor, Angela, is a very talented artist who specializes in medieval art and pottery. The rooms are spacious and modern with all the amenities - big, comfortable beds, refrigerador in the room. A quiet and restful place. The roof top can be accessed for a nice view of the village and its surroundings. There is a bar - Veronicas - around the corner where you can sit outside and enjoy a beer or a Rioja wine. In the next village - Castañeros - there are 3-4 bars and restaurants (it‘s a 15 min walk to get there or a 3 min drive). We were on our way from northern France to southern Spain.The owner is a lovely lady who gave us a warm welcome even though we arrived late at night. Our room was on the first floor of the castle keep - spotlessly clean with hanging pictures of knights in armour on the walls. You get to it via your own private lift. Slept in four poster bed. Breakfast next morning was fruit, toast and coffee in the downstairs dining room. The village is in the Rioja wine growing area and must be quite wealthy. There's a circular walk for you and your dog around the Cerro El Castillar before continuing on...
