This hotel is a dream - but it needs a few tweaks.|A group of us stayed for three nights & we were beautifully looked after, especially by Patricia the Concierge Manager. |Nothing was too much trouble.|All the staff - mainly local - are delightful. |Always smiling & extremely helpful - especially Cody, Aniceta, Pearl & Carlos. ||One night we sat out on the terrace at Sa Tafona, the tapas restaurant, where Antonia the young & very talented chef, cooked us a dinner of endless sharing plates. |Her food was just wonderful. |(Antonia is surely on her way to earning a Michelin *)||Unfortunately the Sommelier completely let the team down.|We asked for his advice as we wanted to drink Mallorcan wine.|The hotel has rather a limited choice for this. |The Sommelier immediately tried to sell us the most expensive wine on the list. |When we refused this, he completely lost interest in us. |This sort of thing should not happen - more than disappointing.| |Another night Antonia cooked in the main restaurant, Sa Terrassa, where we had a conventional three course dinner of local dishes. |Again the food was absolutely wonderful.||Breakfast is a sight to behold. |So many fresh meats, cheese & especially fruit laid out for self service.|And then lots of hot dishes available too, including some special Mallorcan dishes.|Tables are all outside on a terrace. |Some covered some not. |The staff move the positioning of the tables according to the weather/wind.||All the rooms & suites are luxurious - all furnished by Rialto Living - & with wonderful views out over the valley & sea.|The lovely smelling toiletries in the room are all made locally.|Unusual little chocolate bars in the rooms are irresistible.||At this time of year the sun leaves the pool by about 15.45 as it sinks behind a mountain, which is rather a shame. |The pool is especially good as it is so long - really good for swimming lengths.|There is a snack bar by the pool.||Lots of sun beds & parasols are dotted around the pool & on the grass on a lower terrace at the front of the hotel.|All peaceful & quiet with wonderful views.||There are tables and chairs all over the place where too the views are always great, to have a drink or a snack. Terraces all around.||This hotel has great potential. |And it is still early days as it has only been going just over a year. |But the management does need to make a few tweaks.||In the summer there are endless places to sit outside - day & night. |But when the weather is bad, & later in the year like now, there are not enough places to have a drink indoors.|If the hotel eventually decides to stay open during the winter - & hopefully it will - then really more comfortable indoors places will be needed. |A proper Bar needs to be created and a really nice comfortable lounge.|The ‘lounge’ at the hotel presently is in the basement. |It is badly designed and very stark with cold decor. |We did not enjoy sitting there.|We felt that actually all the hospitality areas needs to be rejigged.||The hotel really needs a proper Spa.|At the moment there are a couple of treatment rooms where we had superb massages. ||This hotel is a place really to stay at & do nothing.|A hire car is essential in order to visit anywhere.|Although the hotel provides bikes & there are lots of tracks to walk.|It takes 45/50 minutes to drive to Palma.||It is a distance to go to any restaurants, along endless, winding mountain roads.|This is bit off-putting for going out to dinner, especially if coming back in the dark.||The hotel would be wonderful to stay at for Christmas &/or New Year if only it was open.|It would offer a ‘house party’ feel. ||Unfortunately it seems at the moment that the hotel senior management is muddled & indecisive about what they are aiming for or even how they should be running the hotel now. |No manger was visible whilst we were there & the organisation behind the scenes (during my booking) was totally disorganised & kept changing with a complete lack of co-ordination.|This is a great shame because all the staff are so willing and the hotel has such enormous potential.||So a more decisive & organised direction is needed & then this hotel will be world class. |It is ...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to stay for 6 nights in November at Son Bunyola Hotel in Mallorca, and my goodness what a truly delightful hotel in every way. ||Difficult to single out highlights, as this is a very special place indeed, but for us the setting was magical, a restored finca set among terraces of ancient olive trees and vines with spectacular views of the turquoise Mediterranean and Tramuntana mountains. Not a UNESCO world heritage site for nothing. We couldn’t stop drinking in the views. Don’t worry about negotiating the hair pin bends on the way down to the hotel, staff pick by you up from the airport!||Talking of staff, they were without exception fantastic. So friendly, helpful and relaxed, taking time to talk to us about what to see in the area & where to hike. Our every need was catered for, including a most interesting bespoke wine tasting and guided hike.||The quality of the restoration of the building is stunning. The room gorgeous, with local Mallorca finishing touches such as espadrille slippers, perfect for going to the heated pool for an early morning swim before breakfast. | |Lunch and diner were lovely occasions and the food very good, but we couldn’t stop thinking about the breakfasts we enjoyed on the sunny terrace with glorious views enjoying local fruits, honey, juices and homemade breads. The cooked options were really interesting with some healthy options too. What a wonderful start to the day. We were sorry to leave and hope to visit again next year and explore more of Mallorca using Son Bunyola as a base. Both are...
Read moreA special hotel that opened j3 years ago set on an estate 30 minutes from Palma airport. Wonderful staff get to know every guest by name and cannot do enough to make your stay perfect.||There are a wide range of complimentary activities ranging from cycling, guided walking, fitness training, yoga, boules, volleyball and wine tasting. The estate has its own vineyard and is bottle the wine from next autumn. A new Buzz VW takes guests to Esporles or Banyalbufar and open air jeeps ferry guests around the estate and down to the rocky coastline which although photogenic, isn’t suitable for sunbathing. There is a huge pool in the garden and a bar which serves guests lots of extras again free of charge.||Our lasting memory is the staff who together form a wonderful team that provide a very personal service. They are all so good I’m not going to mention them by name but we had to say our goodbye to every one. ||Stunning views and lovely rooms make Son Bunyola one of the very best hotels on the island. We can’t...
