Our recent stay at Hostal Sa Barraca, close to the picturesque town of Begur, Spain,(15 min drive) was nothing short of a heartwarming experience. This charming family-run hotel offers more than just a place to rest your head – it immerses you in the warmth and hospitality of a true Spanish family, making you feel like an honored guest.
From the moment I arrived, the staff's friendliness and helpfulness were evident. They greeted me with genuine smiles and went out of their way to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. It truly felt like being welcomed into a loving family home.
The hotel's location provided breathtaking views that painted the perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. With convenient free parking available, I was able to easily explore the surrounding area, including the stunning beaches that were just a short 10-15 minute drive away. While bus services were an option, I heeded the advice to travel by car, which gave me the flexibility to discover the hidden gems of the region at my own pace. The hotel manager, a knowledgeable native of the area, was a treasure trove of information about Begur and its surroundings. Their insightful tips and recommendations allowed me to make the most of my time exploring the region's beauty and culture. The rooms were meticulously clean, and it was a delightful surprise to find that every room featured its own terrace, adding a touch of private outdoor space to each stay. For those who like to keep a bit of flexibility in their dining options, the shared fridge for guests and the practical kitchen facilities were a thoughtful touch. Although I didn't try the breakfast myself, I heard raving reviews from fellow guests who had nothing but good things to say about it.
Disliked · Of course, no stay is without a few minor hiccups. The internet coverage wasn't the most reliable or speedy, which might be a consideration for those needing to stay connected for work. Additionally, the proximity of the rooms to one another meant that, depending on. Also, consider the property has no pool. Access by car is...
Read moreWe had booked 7 nights in the hostal but decided we wanted 8 nights, unfortunately they were fully booked so offered us the house instead for a very good price, we were soooo lucky! The house is about 1.5km from the hostal, its the top floor of a house, the hostals brother owns the downstairs but we rarely saw him there so dont think he actually lives there. The house is very modern inside and finished to a high standard, everything about the place was great, very comfortable and good quality. 2 bedrooms (one twin, one super king sized bed), lovely open plan lounge/diner/kitchen. Plenty of hot water, heating was very good (we were here in November so chilly evenings), patio with furniture and a small garden to the side of the property with sunbeds etc. Stunning views of the sea from the loung and double bedroom. Could not fault this place and feel incredibly lucky we were offered it. It is listed on booking.com as 'small house'. Owner is lovely and checked on us asking to make sure everything was ok if we needed anything (more towels etc), he couldn't do enough for us - smashing guy...

Staying here felt like visiting your grandparents' house for the holidays, with vintage decor, soft jazz playing as you enter, and a cozy communal space where you can enjoy breakfast, read a book, play cards, or simply admire the view from morning to evening.
The bedroom was spotless, featuring a high-quality mattress, comfortable linen sheets, and a private terrace for extra relaxation. The bathroom was equally clean.
If you're visiting, I highly recommend the homemade breakfast—it’s worth it! Plus, the owners are always happy to share their best tips on where to eat, what to see, and how to make the most of your time in Begur. If you're driving, there's also a convenient...
