La Casona de Rey — Hotel in Belmonte de Miranda

The location was superb. Set in a valley with mountains either side, a river running through and meadow right beside with sheep and cows.||The restaurant was excellent serving a great menu and a la carte. Breakfast was served to you individually and was very good. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.||||Great to have a bar and restaurant of quality.||||We thought we would be able to swim in the river but were discouraged because of the animals in the fields and the electric fences.||We had been looking forward to doing this with our dog. There really wasn’t anywhere else here to walk the dog safely off lead. Without getting in the car again and after a long drive we did not want to do this. ||||The rooms are spacious and clean and perfectly fine.||Our bathroom had a leak coming through the ceiling from the room above so did smell a little, but nothing to spoil our visit. This is a wonderful restaurant on the main road leading up into the mountains of Asturias around the Belmonte de Miranda region. Very large open and bright dining area with large windows looking out onto a pastoral river valley setting. The meals feature local produce and regional specilaities. Staff are attentive and supportive - ask for special dishes. Spanish wines are high quality at great prices. We had a charcuterie plate with local spiced meats, suasages, and cheeses, and ham. Just had a one night stay here, our room on the first floor overlooked the car park and did suffer a bit of road noise. It was a spacious room with a double aspect and from one window there was a lovely view of the valley which this hotel is situated.
