Casa Rural El Patio — Hotel in Benadalid

Just back from a great trip to Andalucia! 'Casa rural El Patio' is a fantastic find, tucked away on the hillside in one of the pueblos blancos of the region. Jose Miguel has put a lot of effort into developing what was a family home into a unique find for visitors to the area. The house is very traditional, rustic and a step back in time to another era, with the exception of the outside space which has been cleverly extended to include a patio area with a swimming pool! At this time of year, the weather is unpredictable and while it was good to see southern Spain getting a good dousing of rainwater, it also meant that the evenings could be chilly. Jose Miguel arranged for us to have a supply of wood for the open fire, but be prepared that just because you're going to Anadalucia doesn't guarantee high temperatures outside of the summer season, so take an extra layer in case! The house is situated on one of the very many interwoven, narrow streets and the descent and ascent are steep and tricky. A large car will just not fit along some of those streets, so bear that in mind as well if you're hiring one. As a location, Benaladid has so much to offer - great local restaurants, breathtaking scenery, peaceful local walks by the river, or relatively short trips to nearby towns and cities.
