Can Felicià — Hotel in Beuda

We were on a touring/walking holiday in the Garrotxa region located in the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees at the Mediterranean end. This was our first Casa de pages (rural properties run as small inns offering accommodation on a half-board basis). Can Felicia used to be a schoolhouse and has been charmingly renovated into a comfortable inn. There is a large communal eating area, bar and pretty gardens including a plunge pool.||||Our welcoming hosts were forgiving over our late arrival - 24 hours late in fact courtesy of Cornish fog closing our local airport - yes the July date is correct :) Dinner was good and we had a jolly evening with our fellow guests - two families, one Spanish the other Swedish. ||||The region is exquisite - lots of medieval villages and castles to visit and breathtaking walking all around. I can't think of a better way to experience it than in these lovely atmospheric inns. They also offer amazingly good...

The house & location are very good. House is clean, simple and nicely decorated. The garden & pool are great for warm days. We were very lucky to have the house just for us (walls are thin as paper....).||However we felt uninformed about several aspects and conditions. E.g. dinner menu was a surprise, food was good but one does not have any choice; it is mainly vegetarian. Also we were offered coffee & tea during dinner, but at the end found out they were not included in the menu price. Same thing with the smoothies for breakfast. The heating system in the rooms was not clearly explained to us, so it was cold a couple of nights.||All in all, we would recommend spending some days in the house (especially as a big group booking the full house), but clarify all the small details in advance to avoid unpleasant...

Take the road less travelled and stay if time permits in Beuda at Can Felicia. The hostess was super friendly and the house was charming. We walked 1km thru a beautiful dusty country road to La Guixera restaurant - a great place to sample true Catalonian food for very little money.
