OK, first things first. Absolutely SPECTACULAR views from the terrace(s); genuinely breath-taking wherever you look - to the sea from the Pool and 'Office' terraces, 360 degree views of the whole valley from the roof. A really beautiful villa; lots of space and a good selection of fixtures and fitting throughout. We were a couple, so we didn't use half of the rooms, including the self-contained 'Office/Studio' space (be aware, the bedroom ceiling height here is only 1.5m). The Lounge/Dining Area is beautifully light, dominated by a huge picture window with sliding doors leading onto the pool terrace. The dining table, comfortably seats 8, and there's a similar sized table on the pool terrace. Excellent quality TV with all the necessary 'boxes' for you to access your Apple TV/Netflix/Amazon Prime account & solid Wi-Fi throughout. There's a log burning fire in the lounge, but we chose to use the A/C units to warm the spaces up. Good exterior lighting throughout the site, much of which is on motion sensors. The pool is lovely; it's unheated, but it had been recently cleaned when we turned up. There are really good safety rails around the Pool terrace (essential if you have 'small people' in your group), but be aware, there's no fencing or safety rails around the Office/Studio Space terrace, one level down. The kitchen is well stocked with all the usual accessories (a good quality coffee machine etc.) and a solid range of cooking utensils, most of which we used. Full marks for having a knife sharper in the cutlery drawer! If we'd wanted to barbeque, there's a lovely Weber grill outside & gas bottles inside. Blackout/security blinds on all the windows and electric blinds in the Kitchen and Lounge. Also there's an electric awning for the pool terrace, but we didn't need to extend it. The outside Laundry Room contains a modern washing machine and tumble dryer combo, neatly fitted into it's own space. The bed in the master bedroom was comfortable, and there's nice bedding and towels throughout the villa. It's lovely and quiet (OK, it was January, but even so...) with a decent amount of space from your neighbours. You certainly don't feel overlooked. We had really good communication with Jose throughout, plus a couple of well-made videos helped us make the most of the villa. Jose also offered some great suggestions for things to do locally. So, all-in-all, the villa sounds perfect...Yes, in the most part it was, although there are a couple of caveats future guests should be aware of before they book. Most of those are to do with the location. Those astonishing views are the result of the Villa being perched on the edge of a VERY steep mountainside. The villa is accessible only by a series of winding paved & unpaved roads, clinging to the mountainside. At key points (particularly in the later part of the journey) you will be driving on a car width 'track' with no barriers, few crossing places and a sheer drop on one side. I'm a confident driver (plus I was driving a small VW Polo), but even so, during the day it took an average of 20-25 minutes to drive from Torrox (the first major town off the Motorway), doubling back on yourself every few hundred meters to get to the Villa. The roads are incredibly steep and you're unlikely to get out of first or second gear across the whole climb. Also, there is next to no lighting on the road at night. As the crow flies it's probably only 3-4 miles from the Motorway, but it is a serious 7-8 mile drive so if you have nervous passengers (or you're not into this kind of driving) think carefully! And finally, when you're at the villa, you are very much on your own. If that's what you want, then that's great. Whilst you can walk to Competa (a small town, with good restaurants, bars & a supermarket), be aware, you're walking on the same roads you drive up for the majority of the walk. I did it twice and it's 2-3 miles down, 2-3 mile up. The villa offers a unique experience once you get there but please be aware, every trip up or down will require a serious,...
Read moreThe location was just great, for hiking and walking around. The house was excellent, well equipped for up to 8 people. Enough space to work, relax, do sports and cooking. As we were staying for 2 months, I can only say, I felt at home. We used the office frequently for our video conferences. The host was very nice, helpful and assisting with tips what to do. Compete was also very close, good place to eat and walk around and have a lunch at the plaza. Great place to stay and work and relax! And if you like yoga, you should go early in the morning on top of the house, there is also a nice terrace and you can have a nice sunrise. Jose thanks again for your assistance and you have a very nice house....
