Hotel Rural Sucuevas — Hotel in Cangas de Onís

Having spent a couple of nights with hosts Claudio & Patricia and their daughter Maria in September 2015 and enjoying every minute of our stay, we decided to take our friends there for another short break. They greeted us as though we were good friends and immediately we knew we were going to enjoy another great week-end. The hotel has beautifully decorated rooms throughout and everywhere is clean and well cared for. On the Sunday we spent the day at Covadonga ( a must) and as our friends were a little footsore, we spent the evening relaxing with good wine and various titbits they supplied. The 125 Pata Negro Albariño was excellent and was the red Rioja (very reasonably priced). The homemade cakes for breakfast were excellent and as our friends are vegetarian Patricia made a mouthwatering onion totilla for them. For anyone interested in alternative energy sources there is a working Artesian well (first Spanish prototype) which was fascinating. Being Spring, the cattle in their adjoining fields could be heard by the gentle ringing of their bells....

I arrived late and left early but ever since my visit I was left with an impression of wanting to return again soon. The owners were just so incredibly charming and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Patricia and Jose with their daughter Maria run this family owned land +house with much love, beautiful architecture, decorations, paying attention to all details.
