Masía Rural Ca La Caputxeta — Hotel in Castelló d'Empúries

This was our first day and first stay in Spain. All future accommodations in Spain should be scared as they have a lot to live up to when compared to the most wonderful hospitality shown by Carmen and our very comfortable room at this gorgeous little hotel. We were just so spoilt and so well cared for but also given our privacy, peace and recovery time. Carmen is extremely attentive to the guests needs and communication was very easy and efficient, even when we speak no Spanish or Catalan! We are bicycle touring and it meant a lot to us to have our bikes safely stored away overnight, be given a hearty breakfast with everything you need for a big days ride and have a very hot shower and comfortable bed. The rural house is in a great location and is very cute. We had no kids with us this trip, but will return with them sometime in the near future. I have lived in Spain for the last 10 years and never have had the friendly and genuine help from a hotel host. Carme hooked us up with reservataions to the most perfect dinner spot. She was unable to say goodbye to us when we checked out as she was in a golf tournament so she phoned us later that afternoon to make sure we were happy. This is HIGHLY unusual customer service in Spain. The room was nice and clean and the shower fine. Breakfast was complete and everything was quite easy. Fuimos una noche con el pack "Escapada Pintoresca" del PlanB! (como Gemma G). El hostal está a las afueras de Castelló d'Empúries, muy bien comunicado.

Llegamos por la tarde-noche y nos recibió Salvador (propietario), quien nos enseñó toda la casa así como nuestra habitación. También nos recomendó un par de sitios para cenar (El Trull, en Fortià, a 3 ó 4 kms de la casa). La casa está muy bien, limpia y ordenada. Tiene hasta una cocina para los huéspedes que se quedan más tiempo para que puedan cocinar la cena. También tienen una habitación doble (2+2) separadas por una puerta para poder ir con los niños y tener un poco de intimidad, eso nos pareció fenomenal para volver en verano con los peques. La habitación que nos tocó era muy amplia (de hecho tenía la cama de matrimonio y otra individual) y el baño muy limpio.

Por la noche no nos llegó ni un sólo ruido del exterior, descansamos fenomenal. Si tuviera que poner alguna "pega" fue que por lo visto estrenamos el colchón de látex de la cama de matrimonio y, a mi particularmente, no me gustó mucho (costaba moverse). Pero entiendo que el tema de los colchones es como los colores, cada cual prefiere uno :) En cualquier caso, dormimos estupendamente. Como cosas curiosas, la TV tiene el volumen limitado a una cuarta parte del máximo (estupendo para no molestar a los demás) y la habitación tiene su propio control de la calefacción, lo cual está muy bien, ya que en las otras casas en las que habíamos estado siempre eran de calefacción central y a veces mi mujer pasaba frío.

Por la mañana nos atendió Carmen (propietaria), que es un encanto. Nos explicó el desayuno y se preocupó por saber qué tal estaba todo. El desayuno tiene embutidos, quesos, pan, tomate para untar, mantequilla, mermeladas, miel y bollería (seguro que me dejo algo). A nosotros nos pareció más que suficiente y estaba todo riquísimo.
