Hotel Camino de Santiago — Hotel in Castrillo del Val

In its day this must have been a stunning hotel but now it is dated and the religious statues are very off putting. We stayed for two nights and because it is isolated we had dinner in the hotel on both nights. We had the set menu {on the first night we were not even offered any alternative} on both nights and my husband chose the fish dish which came on its own .... just fish with sauce and nothing else - very strange! There was a choice of starter and mains but the dessert was a case of take what you get which on the second night was yoghurt which I hate! Quality of food is very poor. Hemos pasado un fin de semana en el hotel y he de decir que tiene mas cosas buenas que malas, empezaré por las malas lo primero; Hace bastante frío en el comedor aunque tiene una pequeña estufa de pellets,dentro del hotel sucede lo mismo,en los dormitorios se templa un poquillo con el aire ya que se ve que han tenido problemas de calefaccion y han quitado los radiadores, vendría bien un radiador electrico en el baño. Por debajo de la puerta de entrada hay mucho hueco y se siente como entra el frio del exterior por debajo. Las puertas deberian de poder tener acceso al picaporte para poder cerrar sin tener que dar portazos ya que despiertas a todo el mundo. Avla fontaneria deberian de darle una vuelta en el agua caliente,sale un hilo en el lavabo y es difícil mezclarlo en la ducha para ducharse a tu temperatura.

Ventanas dobles que evitan los ruidos exteriores,todo muy bien pintado y bastante cuidado y MUY LIMPIO,los baños los han medio renovado poniendo platos de ducha donde habia bañeras,el hotel está decorado tipo vintage muy muy chulo, en su día fue un hotel majestuoso seguro,hace gracia que tiene dentro un retablo de iglesia con Santiago apóstol. LA GENTE DEL HOTEL EN CONJUNTO SON UN 10,inmejorables en servicio,atencion y cuidados a sus clientes,los desayunos muy buenos,la comida muy muy buena,en general con todo esto,lo recomiendo 100%. La cama, almohadas, etc es comodísima, duermes como dios. Tienen mucho cuidado con las personas intolerantes a ciertas comidas sobre todo los camareros.(VALEN ORO) Y nunca olvidemos el precio calidad, es inmejorable. Además esta muy cerquita de Burgos centro y da mucho juego para hacer visitas programadas a pueblos,ciudad etc,tiene aparcamiento propio en la calle y en la misma calle que es bastante larga tambien se puede aparcar, está colocado ideal para no dar vueltas de aparcamiento o parking, lo dicho...

After a long drive we fould this hotel with plenty of free parking just off the main road. Our room was at the back which was large but quaint. The Religious artefacts in the foyer are a bit off-putting as there was no one there who looked like a pilgrim when we stayed.||The restaurant is in the basement so we had the set meal which was regional cooking and very good. The breakfast buffet was in the bar beside reception and was the poorest breakfast we encountered in Spain. I like my coffee in a cup or mug, not in a glass.
