Hotel rural La Casa Del Burrero — Hotel in Castropol

We arrived here mid-afternoon, at the same time as the hosts returned from shopping. Made very welcome, shown our room and then we headed out to explore the local area. Returned for the evening meal, cooked and served by our hostess, local produce, very tasty and plenty of it. Sat and chatted with our hostess who spoke French and some English so we were able to get history and information about the area. Comfortable room, good nights sleep and then down for a large breakfast.||Out to check on the bike to find the rear tyre had given up! At this point the fact our host was a biker came in handy. He arranged for his biker son, 100 kms away, to locate a new tyre. He then drove us to collect it and down to the local tyre place who changed it. So we only lost one day, made some strong friendships and will be forever grateful that the tyre chose to give up here rather than on the back roads of northern Spain. Castropol concello - Las Campas hamlet. Dairy farms, cider-apple trees, crisscrossing lanes, woodland and copses everywhere. And so peaceful. Well located for going to the Las Catedrales beaches, Taramundi for trekking and Mondoñedo (where we were lucky enough to hear the organ in the cathedral). Maria Alonso is the perfect host and always prepared to converse intelligently at breakfast. And the local people are very friendly. Funny quirk in our bedroom (which Maria warned us about): the wood beams in the ceiling creak at night due to the change in temperature. No problem!!...

Situada en un entorno maravilloso y silencioso en un bosque de pinos y eucaliptos si sitúa la Casa del burrero, regentada por María y su marido Pedro. Dos personas maravillosas, simpáticas y dispuestas a ayudarte en todo. La casa muy bien cuidada por María y siempre limpia tiene varias habitaciones amplias en las que se admiten mascotas bajo petición. Nuestro perro ha estado mejor que en casa, ya que tienes unos caminos alrededor en los que poder sacarle a pasear y además un gran patio verde lleno de árboles. Los desayunos han sido fantásticos, aunque nosotros no somos de desayunar mucho, pero María te pueden preparar unos huevos fritos o incluso algo de embutido si quieres. Está muy cerca de Galicia, y hay muchos sitios y pueblos entrañables cercanos que visitar como Taramundi, Tapia de Casariego, Playa de las catedrales o Cudillero entre otros. Siempre puedes preguntarle a María que te dará buenos consejos, tanto sobre qué visitar como dónde comer (en nuestro caso, nuestra hija es celiaca y siempre nos daba buenos consejos sobre dónde comer con ella sin problema). Se puede hacer el tipo de turismo que quieras: de interior, playa, rutas por el campo o simplemente gastronómico, ya que todo está cerca en coche. Nosotros somos bastante de playa, y aunque hemos visitado un montón de pueblos, nos gusta mucho bañarnos en el mar. Teniendo en cuenta que tenemos un perro, existe una playa no muy lejos de la playa de las catedrales en la que está permitido el acceso con ellos, pero si no, existen playas más cercanas que se pueden aprovechar sobre todo en veranito, aunque la temperatura en general es bastante agradable incluso en épocas de mucho calor.
