Casa Prada en Sanabria — Hotel in Cobreros

Casa Prada is a cosy, modernly renovated retreat in the picturesque Sanabria region. Located in the quiet village of Sotillo de Sanabria, you’ll be both far and near all the mod cons of life.

There are a few hikes that you can start from the village itself and you can tailor these to your liking (or abilities) as they can be long, short, or challenging. The Sotillo Waterfall is easily accessible through the trails that start only 1min away from Casa Prada and there is even a route that can take you all the way to the largest glacial lake in the peninsula (Lago de Sanabria)

Among the cute aspects of Casa de Sanabria is the fact that you have bread deliveries in the form of small vans that come from different bakeries in different days of the week. While I cannot recall which days belong to which bakeries, you do get fresh bread at the house’s doorstep! (have cash available as cards are not taken by the drivers)

For supplies, you have the small town of El Puente (10mins drive from the house) where there is a sizeable (but not overly large) Carrefour Express among any other supplies you may need. There are a couple of good bars and restaurants in El Puente as well, so you are covered if you want to have a cold beer and some amazing tapas after your hike. Should your palate want more elaborate cuisine, Puebla de Sanabria (a mere 17mins away from the house) offers you many more restaurants, bakeries, and a castle to visit!

Should you not look to enjoy the outdoors, or want to engage with the mod cons of life, and just retreat to the cosiness of the fireplace in Casa Prada, you can. The house is uniquely located in that you can feel emotionally far away from the world, while yet being practically close to its modern supply chains.

Unlike other stays we have been to, this house is well equipped to cater visits during the winter as well as the summer, so you know that whenever you decide to visit you’ll be very comfortable.

We stayed for a solid week and we cannot recommend this place high enough. The amazing proximity to great Spanish gastronomy while sitting at the start of its natural treasures cannot be underestimated. Casa Prada had everything we needed for a perfect four day rest and, relax in the middle of one Spain's beautiful places - Montana and Lago de Sanabria. A beautifully restored airy old stone home, well-designed interiors attending to all the details, a comprehensively equipped kitchen for making our favourite home-cooked meals, and a good sized smart TV for movies, after walking all over the hills above Sotillo, to the lake for a swim and the waterfalls on another day. Casa Prada is truly an amazing place to stay and be in nature! The house has everything you could possibly need and is in a perfect location nearby plenty of beautiful hikes including the lake and waterfall near by. The host was so helpful and made everything so easy for us, it would be perfect for a couple or even a family with lots of room for everyone!
