Camping rural La Masia — Hotel in Cocentaina

THE MASÍA

In the middle of the La Masía rural campsite is an old farmhouse, the ground floor of which dates from around 1100. Centuries ago this was already the place where people came together to harvest and trade Around the farm is a 23-hectare site with olive, almond, fig and pine trees. The land is gently sloping with wide terraces (bancales) and runs slowly down to a deep canyon, where a small ruin can be found on the edge

Calm and nature At the campsite you will find peace, quiet and freedom as a guest. The large surface of the site allows you to stay among the olive trees with the feeling that you are all alone. You step straight into nature from your tent or caravan to enjoy walking, cycling, mountain biking and car routes.



Views Due to the high location (approximately 550 meters) you have beautiful views all around. For example, the Castillo de Penella can be seen, a small 13th-century castle on a cliff, after which the area is named. You also see around the mountains, which all have a name, such as the Montcabrer, the Serrella, the Serreta, and the highest mountain in the region, the Aitana...

Had a great stay with the kids and our dog. We stayed in our tent in a nice pitch. Some other pitches had electricity available but we never needed that. The place is easy to find on Google maps the road is a bit rough but not too bad. It's very quiet and peaceful and there are nice walks to be had. The kids loved it there was a pool and games/goats for them to keep them entertained. Even in October they loved the pool. There was a nice picnic area with a bar area where you could buy beer or soft drinks. The owners were good people and helpful they just let us get on with it. Eind mei drie nachten met onze caravan op Camping Rural La Masia gestaan. Deze camping was een juweeltje na de vele Spaanse rijtjes campings die we tijdens onze rondreis door Spanje hebben aangedaan. Mooie terrassen met olijf- en pijnbomen en een fantastisch uitzicht op de bergen. Goed sanitair en een lekker zwembad om even af te koelen en een zeer vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaar.

Het terrein van La Masia is veel groter dan de camping. Je kan een leuk avondwandelingetje maken en halverwege op een paar tuinstoelen van het uitzicht genieten. Vanaf de camping nog door de olijf- en amandelboomgaarden naar de Llavador de Penella, de restanten van de burcht, gelopen.

De single track road naar de camping (ca 3 km) is, als je deze track voor het eerst met de caravan achter de auto rijdt, wel even slikken. Toen we bij een stevige afdaling kwamen hebben we eerst de eigenaar gebeld met de vraag of wel goed zaten. Huub kwam ons meteen tegemoet en kon ons gerust stellen. Onze caravan is het laatste stuk met zijn 4WD naar boven gereden. Het laatste stuk naar de camping is ongeschikt om de caravan met de eigen auto naar boven te rijden. Toen we vertrokken heeft Huub onze caravan naar een punt gebracht vanaf waar we hem weer zelf konden trekken.

Omdat we deze camping aan het eind van onze vakantie bezochten hadden we helaas geen mogelijkheid om langer te blijven. De camping is nog in opbouw maar is absoluut een aanrader en als we in buurt zijn komen we zeker...
