We enjoyed our stay at Posada Fuenteplateada. The hotel is very pretty, in a quiet and pretty rural town, with a really nice hostess. The breakfast was delicious, with fresh squeezed juices and wonderful homemade Spanish tortas and cakes. We liked it as a base for exploring the area. Segovia is about 15-20 minutes away, and wonderful Pedraza (such a pretty medieval village with very nice shops and restaurants) is only about 15 minutes away. The only restaurant in town for dinner was Matita, a short walk or drive away. We were given a discount coupon for dinner. They didn't open until just before 9 P.M., and we were the only people in the restaurant (everyone else was in the bar eating snacks and watching soccer). The food was good and reasonable. English was not widely spoken there. Of course, you could also have dinner in Segovia or Pedraza. Our room overlooked a pasture, with a friendly gray horse. My only problem here was that the bed was too hard for me, but others may like that. I needed a Therma-rest mattress and blanket to make it soft enough for me. Read moreWe spend a weekend in this "hotel" well that's a way to named it. |We couldn't find the place so we called and we didn't talk directly to the hotel we talked with someone else who try to tell us how to get there, after few calls they didn't want to give us the number of the hotel so that was not good and for sure not a fast way to find the place.|The rooms have not air conditioner, and believe me, it was real hot! |The rooms were very nice but not comfortable, the bed was very hard, it was better the floor than the mattress. They supposed to have a "pillow menu" well I really don't know where... and it happened the same with the bufe of tea and coffee in the room. There was a coffee maker but no tea, no coffee, no cups, no sugar, nothing!!! |We had the luxury room, and for sure we payed for it but it was not a good one. |It's a beautiful place but it's not ready for guests. They don't take care of them. |A hotel not only has to be pretty it has to be cozy and comfortable , they have a lot of work to do.|I would NEVER recommend this...
Read moreWe booked this stopover based on the the fulsome gushing description in the Alistair Sawday guide.||The reality was somewhat different. We were the only guests in the place and a young Spanish girl had been deputed to look after us. She has no English and could not or made no attempt at basic Spanish.Even a smile would have helped but we had the impression that we were not wanted.. ||We ate in the La Matita Restaurant which was half a mile away and not nexr door as has been described in some reviews. Again we were the only people eating and paid over the odds for a very ordinary meal. We noticed the Michelin stickers stopped in 2009 and this probably explained the ordinary cooking.||Back at the hotel the room was OK and the breakfast more than adequate.||Maybe mif Sept is too late in the seson for this hotel, and in which case it would have been better if it had closed down for the season, ||Back...
