Gorosarri landetxea - apartamentuak — Hotel in Eskoriatza

What an amazing and restful place to stay for a few days especially after a dreadful journey to get here with 2 flight cancellations meaning we arrived 2 days late! ||Alex and Ane were so lovely and really helpful keeping our booking open and trying to also looking up alternative flights for us via WhatsApp! We don’t speak any Spanish ( and definitely no Basque!) but had no problem chatting when we finally arrived. ||The garden and views are restful and an impressive pan aroma with 2 amazing bridges and the pool was lovely - just right for our 2 teenagers to splash about in. ||Sua the friendly dog was around to greet us every morning and on our return from exploring at night. Tigi the cat also friendly. ||The apartment was just right - easy to cook and eat in - full sized fridge - loads of hot water - it comes from geothermal supply so plenty for showers. Tap water no problem to drink ( don’t waste your money buying bottled) as comes from a mountain spring and filtered on site - huge supermarket Eroski in Arrasate - 15 mins down road open till 10pm each night. ||Really comfy beds and towels all provided and towels were changed mid stay. ||Lots of herbs spices, oils and spare toiletries available free as had been left by other guests - so ok to help yourself! Great idea! ||We were here for an Ironman race in Vitoria-Gasteiz, which is lovely to explore and about 20 mins away. ||Landa - lovely Lake to swim and sunbathe in with ice cream van - toilet block and free car parking and handy cafe at the end of the road was good for lunch. ||We also went for the day to San Sebastián- about 1 hour 20 - loads to see and do - lovely very busy shops - beware the Toll cost for motorway - E10 each way. Parking very expensive E 23 for the day but well worth visiting. ||Also went to Pamplona- about same distance - 1 hr 15 ish - only E2.20 Toll cost each way - for the afternoon - again - Lovely to visit. ||Can not recommend Gorosarri enough - fantastic stay- thank you...

My husband and I stayed in Casa Gorosarri for just 1 night in May 2018 and were so glad we persisted in locating this place. As this was a last-minute booking, the place was full and we stayed in the "apartment" on the bottom floor which has a little kitchen. I don't know what the actual rooms upstairs looked like but we were extremely comfortable downstairs. The whole house is very comfortable and lovely.||||Alex, the host, prepared a dinner for us and a breakfast the next morning and both meals were delicious - generous portions and very authentic Spanish Basque cooking. ||||What we also loved was the exterior of the house. Alex has many comfortable chairs and tables out there, overlooking the most scenic valley you can imagine. We sat out there contemplating the view for hours! ||||I'm going to mention one thing that is a bit unusual in case this helps you to be prepared.... The road leading down to the Casa is unbelievably steep! OMG, I had a brief but definite panic attack when I saw it, but obviously, we lived to tell the tale and it was basically just the surprise of it. No problem at all going back up, just that preliminary "are we driving down that road!!?" initial reaction Ion my part only - my husband just laughed). ||||Next time we're in the Basque country, I would certainly make a point of going again and...

We were meeting family members who we had not seen for many many months. Some arriving from France, who also stayed at Gorosarri, and another two who travelled up from Andalusia but stayed elsewhere.||||Even before we arrived Alex and Ane had been extremely helpful. They manage to combine professionalism with humanity, humour and kindness.||||The location suited us well. The views are lovely. The youngsters had some activities for times when we were in the Casa Rural, and there were walks close by. The local village was accessible on foot although we did not shop there. We did use one superb restaurant in the village though.||||The accommodation is well designed, unfussy, very clean, with good quality beds, bed linen and towels provided. The studio layout was effective. Having said that, we would have welcomed a second room had it been available! But we knew that beforehand. Wi fi is good. There is a washing machine available.
