Hotel Venta Etxalar — Hotel in Etxalar

We stayed here for 1 nights on Thursday 25/9/25,

We booked here as a late decision the night before and are so pleased we did. Location is off a fairly major road, but we had booked one of the rooms with a balcony which face the back of the hotel, so this wasn’t an issue. That said the aircon in the rooms worked well and there would be no need to have the window open if you were at the front, so I don’t see traffic as a noise issue. The decor of the public areas of the hotel is kind of hunting lodge esc, which looks nice. Check in was smooth and easy (despite us arriving before check in was available/the right staff were there) All the staff we dealt with were very pleasant and helpful. The room itself was spacious, extremely clean, comfortable and well equipped. The Hotel has a restaurant and a bar. The restaurant was not open the night we stayed, however the bar had a good range of dishes (though basic) and we had a very good meal in there.

Nice and pleasant hotel nested in the scenic mountains. The room was lovely and clean. AC worked marvelously well during the heatwave, allowing for a good night's sleep. The beds are also very comfy. The receptionist we met was polite and efficient and spoke french fluently (and quite possibly the owner). Breakfast is continental Spanish style: eggs, bacon, tortilla, Serrano, cooked ham, cheese, bread, yogurt and am pretty sure I also saw some cereal. Tea and coffee are available, w some juices. The restaurant seems to open at 20:00 for the evening service. The waiters are nice enough but do not speak much else than Spanish (maybe basque also). We did order without too much hassle though thanks to international menus (and a lot of pointing at said menus). The waiters are a little forgetful and we were confused as to whether there was table service or if we had to go order/pay at the bar. But that's trivial really, the food more than made up for this very minor inconvenience. It was fresh and tasty, and promptly served. Watch out as they get really busy in the evenings it seems. Overall I recommend this...

We have stayed here several times over the past 3 years and never been disappointed. Welcoming staff, beautifully clean well appointed rooms looking out over river and woods. Superb selection of food for breakfast ranging from fresh breads, cakes, fruit, dairy produce, eggs and bacon and, our friend who has travelled with us on several occasions says - the best tortilla ever. The daily menu has plenty of choice and should suit most tastes - excellent value. The service in the Bar is excellent and friendly and there is a good selection of snacks and bar meals for those not wishing to dine in the restaurant.|We live in France and travel down to the Pyrenees for short breaks and cheap shopping - and always look forward to our stay in Venta de Etxalar and believe it would be difficult to find another hotel that could beat this one for value...
