We stayed here for three nights early in December 2006 and felt that we could not recommend this hotel to other travellers. For starters, it lies 2 kms outside the town of Galdar, up a winding, hilly unfinished road that it would be impossible to walk on. The hotel building is very pretty in a Canarian style, but there is no lift to the rooms,up two flights of stairs, and no assistance was offered us, two ladies of 60 yrs, with our luggage. When we reached our room, we then had to go down another flight of stairs with our cases! the room was good, with a balcony looking out over the landscape to the sea in the distance, but some basic things were missing, i.e. shower caps. The bathroom had only a handheld shower, which was quite difficult to manage. When we arrived, in the evening, we were given keys to an outside gate, front door and room door, and told that there would not be any hotel personnel around after 8 pm. We subsequently found that they were also not there during the main part of the day. Service went from adequate to surly, and the breakfast was also just adequate, with some items not being replenished during our stay. We were booked in for a conference on the 3rd day of our stay, by the conference organisers, but when we returned that evening our room had not been cleaned, and we were virtually attacked verbally the following morning, as they said they thought we were only staying two nights. All in all, the hotel is an attractive building, with a most interesting cave for receptions and weddings, but it does not have any cafe or restaurant, and no facilities for providing drinks during the day, as everything is locked away. There is a minibar in the room but no means of making a cup of coffee if needed. Not a comfortable place to stay, and a shame that Galdar has no other hotel, so visitors are forced to stay in this one, which makes very little effort as there is no competition...
Read moreIf you prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle than this small 'country house' style hotel is a good choice. You have to travel up a dusty track to get there but I think it was worth it. We were the only ones staying so it felt like a private villa. Poll and gardens were lovely, all clean and well kept. Room was large with good bathroom, fridge, balcony, good views etc. Only downside was because we werer only ones there they didn't put on any breakfast, but it was only a short drive to a local shop. I realise it won't be everyones 'cup of tea' but...
