La Higuera — Hotel in Güéjar Sierra

We stayed 2 nights whilst skiing in Sierra Nevada. Positives were the hotel was clean, comfortable and warm and the food in the restaurant was reasonably priced. However the lack of hospitality from the owner was astounding. He did not smile during our stay or attempt to make us feel welcome in any way, in fact we felt as if our stay there was a big inconvenience. At the end of our stay I paid the bill by credit card but noticed that the owner had charged the card in sterling, not Euros, and had not asked me whether I wanted to pay in pounds. Often in Spain when you pay with a British credit card you are asked whether you want to pay in £ or €. If you choose £ you get a poor exchange rate and high commission charges so I always pay in €. I asked the owner to cancel the transaction and I would pay again in €. However it took a great deal of arguing and me refusing to sign the credit card receipt before he eventually cancelled the transaction and I paid again, this time with me having to keep hold of the card machine whilst the transaction was completed to ensure I paid in €. Hemos ido hoy con una reserva toda la familia, 20 personas. La reserva era a las 14:00.

Llegamos puntuales y, sin embargo, tardaron en atendernos unos 10 minutos, nada reseñable.

Ahora bien, después de pedir todos nuestros platos, y viendo que había pasado ya más de 1 hora y que habían atendido y servido antes a otras mesas que llegaron después, preguntamos que qué ocurría, a lo que nos dieron largas y evasivas.

Cuando ya eran ya las 15:30h pasadas, protestamos y dijimos que había pasado ya 1 hora y media desde nuestra reserva y que no nos habían servido ni un plato y la encargada, una muchacha de unos 30 y pocos, se encaró de malas formas con nosotros y nos dijo que no habían empezado todavía a preparar nuestra comanda, porque había más gente.

Esto lo hizo con los que entraron dentro a protestar, porque a la terraza, donde estábamos todos, no se atrevió ni a salir y se limitó a enviar al camarero a poner e excusas.

Claramente es mentira, ya que cuando llegamos a nuestra reserva, sólo había a penas 4 o 5 mesas ocupadas y, repito, sirvieron a mesas que llegaron después que nosotros, y que terminaron de comer y se fueron antes que nosotros, que nos tuvimos que ir sin comer.

Desde luego, es un sitio al que no sólo no volveremos, sino que tampoco...

Looking on the internet as I was trying to track down an address as we are hoping to stay there on a road trip we have planned around Spain towards the end of October.
