My wife and I had a comfortable stay at Hotel Atalaia in Irun, Spain! ||The highlight of my experience was undoubtedly the breakfast service, expertly managed by a delightful lady who went above and beyond to ensure that every guest had a fantastic start to their day. Her attention to detail, friendliness, and willingness to accommodate special requests truly stood out and made the breakfast experience unforgettable.||The comfort of the air-conditioned rooms was a true blessing, especially during the warmer days. After a long day travelling, stepping into a cool and cozy room was a welcome relief. The attention to ensuring a comfortable atmosphere did not go unnoticed, and it played a significant role in enhancing my overall experience.||The shower is also worth a mention – a simple pleasure that Hotel Atalaia has perfected. The water pressure was just right, and the temperature control was spot-on, offering a refreshing and invigorating experience after a day of activities. It's the little things like this that set this hotel apart.||And let's not forget the fact that Hotel Atalaia is pet-friendly! As a pet owner, it's always a challenge finding accommodations that welcome furry companions, but this hotel truly understands the bond between humans and their pets. Being able to travel with my four-legged friend and enjoy a comfortable stay was an absolute delight.||Overall, my stay at Hotel Atalaia was a memorable one. The combination of exceptional service, comfortable amenities, and the pet-friendly atmosphere make it a top-notch choice for anyone visiting Irun. I can't wait to return to this charming establishment, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow travellers looking for a delightful and heartwarming...
Read moreFirst time visited Atalaia. |Chosen via internet due to look and feel of photos but it was so much better. |Very well presented from outside and the interior included very creative design features. Bedroom presentation was very warm & welcoming, mattress, large double, pillows, size of bath towels etc couldn't be faulted. Clarins shower gel and small pot of sweets indicates attention to detail and care. It is very close to motorway junction but we didnt notice any noise and is perfect for stop over . |We were only charged €78 for the double which I presume was due to quiet season - double the price would have still been excellent value.|The hotel restaurant (which apparently is very good as well) wasn't available and we were directed to the shopping mall 2 mins walk away. The mall was the second good surprise; the supermarket is very large and superb with a wonderful selection of meats, smoked hams, cheeses, fruit and veg. Also, there are 3/4 restaurants and we thoroughly enjoyed the Italian based cuisine at LaMafia. |Finally, the supermarket fuel was the cheapest we saw in Spain at €1.47 per litre - perfect place to fill up as well!!|We will definitely stay again and will...
Read moreThis was a great find. Nice, modern, clean and comfortable small hotel. Convenient location right off the highway, and the hotel offers free parking. Despite being close to the freeway, the rooms were very quiet. If you are on a driving trip like we were, this hotel has easy access to the highway that takes you to San Sebastian, about a 15 minute drive to the old town; a 1/2 hour drive to the must see coastal town of Getaria- for the grilled fish, and about a two-hour drive to Santander. However, we did not want to deal with the hassle of finding parking in San Sebastian and took the train from Irun to Amara station in San Sebastian, which is the closest station to the old town. The train station is a 3- minute drive from the hotel. However, the station is unattended and it was not easy to figure out how to use the ticket machine. Luckily, a local person was able to help us. The hotel is also very close (4 km) to Hondarribia, also, a must see town on the coast. The pintxos (tapas) in San Sebastian and Hondarribia are to die for! I would stay at this...
