When I was visiting Arredondo, I was thinking about many little changes that the place lacks and that could make the place really fantastic. I rated it Excellent, but it has all the features to become more than that. People write about friendly atmosphere, scenery, view, friendliness. This is all true, but with all of that, Arredondo has the unused potential to become fantasy land. I will give just a few examples.||1. We are surrounded by meadows with hundreds of Asturian cows, why can't we have homemade butter, cheese, for breakfast.||2. We are in hot Spain. Why there was no water and preferably wine in the room,||3. We are in XXI century, why the Internet speed in my room (M) was 0.71/0.54 Mb. Ana said they will change it to a higher speed as it is in the main building, but if it is important better check before reservation.||4. The hotel world so easily accepted the presence of a TV set in every room. Why the presence of a coffee/tea maker (with a supply if teabags), a standard in the UK is so difficult to achieve elsewhere, except some hotels in Poland.||5. The meals could be highly improved with a nicely selected soft-jazz or film music in the dining-room. ||||All these are necessities of Individualism. On the other hand when we arrived there was an active fireplace with a lot of room to gather and chat. Many places inside and outside, where you can meet with your friends and talk. A piano for the guests' use in a separate room. ||||Visiting Spanish hotels, I am thinking that they reflect the collectivist culture of the country, as British hotels reflect the individualist culture. The problem is that all of us are sometimes in a collectivist mood and sometimes in an individualist mood. A good hotel should be prepared to...
Read moreMy boyfriend booked 3 nights for a romantic getaway. He was not given the room he booked, when we arrived we rang the front desk bell several times no one came, we thought it was abandoned, finally someone showed up. They gave us a two floor room with bathroom on the first floor. (not great when you need to go in the middle of the night) They did not turn on the heat, it was a bit chilly upstairs but toasty downstairs, because of the chimney fire we lit every night. Also, one of the wood planks was loose by the bed and it creaked loudly every time you got off the bed. The following day we had breakfast and a ceiling lamp fell down almost hit me in the head, it rolled down my back. No real apology, no "don't worry breakfast on us" |They did not even bother to clean up the glass, they moved us to another table which was fine.|They did not replenish towels the last night we were there. |It is a lovely, quiet, peaceful retreat but service was very lacking. It seemed like they did not really care about your comfort or details that lead to good customer service. I work for a major airline and stay in many hotels, the service was not very good but it was...
Read moreStay at this property!!! Only a couple of miles from the busy beach town of Celirio, this property seems worlds away. A small pasture a few feet behind several of the units, including ours, contains maybe 15 bulls, cows and calves. I pulled up a chaise and entered Arredondo time watching these gentle animals interact--in their time, not mine.
I failed to notify the property that my wife and I we're cycling in. Manual fixed the problem in 2 minutes he and the server, Marta, exhibited an eagerness to serve guests, but in a relaxed way, the Arredondo way!!
We tried the homemade rice pudding. The best I've ever had the breakfast was fantastic. Fresh eggs, great bread and pastries and thick strips of rice bacon devoid of gristle.
As we pedalled off in the morning. I noticed that all of the other guests looked happy, relaxed and content. I think that's really what you get when you stay a night at Hotel...
