Rural Las Llanadas — Hotel in Los Realejos

Our stay in Rural Las Llanadas||We’ve booked two weeks to stay in El Ciruelo, one of the four cottages on the Finca Las Llanadas. Before our stay we had already a good impression of this cottage. We loved it. The Finca has a beautiful garden with nice flowers and plants surrounded by the cottages. There is a little fountain in the middle where the birds everyday come to drink. You hear the canaries singing in the tree. The cottage was cosy, clean and with all you need in the kitchen. The bedroom was superb with a delicious double bed, also for a large person as me. Our pictures will give you an impression of it all. |When we arrived in the evening we were welcomed by Carlos. A very gentle person. First we had to tell him how dangerous the road was to the Finca. From the highway we followed the instructions from our navigation. Don’t do that! The nice lady sends you over narrow, steep roads climbing to the top. The Finca is situated at 900 meters high. My wife was so frightened. Fortunately Carlos explained us another road to go down, longer but less steep. It’s better to phone Carlos when you leave the highway. |In the neighbourhood you can find several supermarkets. Most near is little supermarket in Palo Blanco near petrol station. Carlos will tell you where you can find. The groceries are rather cheap in Tenerife, also the gasoil. We paid 0,95 euro/litre.|Restaurants are not in the closest neighbourhood the Finca. We went mostly to the restaurant during our trips or prepared a dinner in the kitchen. |Our favourites were to go to Parque National Del Teide or walks in the neighbourhood of the Finca. The nature is so beautiful. We went three times to the volcano. Not so far away from the Las Llananas. Good indicated and good roads to the Parque. It’s so impressive and so various. El Portillo is an information centre and botanic garden. During our stay we visited also the pittoresque towns Orotava and Garichico at the coast. Parque del Drago is also interesting to visit. We avoided the crowded beaches.|At Llanadas it was regularly cloudy. Normal for a location higher on the mountain. The mornings started often with sunshine. When the clouds arrived we decided to go to Parque National Del Teide, always sunny at 2200 meters or to the Oceanside. |But …………when it was a really sunny day we preferred to stay at the Finca in the garden with a nice book. You felt you in the garden of Eden with all the typically birdsongs around you. Regularly passed birds of prey from the mountains. |We like to thank Carlos for his hospitality on our arrival. We were very surprised t receive a basket full of fruit, some local beers, a bottle of red wine, juices, etc. A good start for our holidays at the finca.|And one advice: maybe it’s better not to use your navigation if you don’t want the shortest way. We really enjoyed our 7 nights at this location. Due to it's rural setting, you have to drive a bit to the nearby towns (own car needed), but we enjoyed this on the curved and steep roads.||The garden has different terraces where you can relax or have a BBQ (unfortunately no view on the sea) . There is a jacuzzi as well with nice view, but it was a bit too cold for the time of year we were there.||Although some of the furniture could be a bit modernized, all you need is there in the apartment. They supplied us as well with a cot, bath and high chair for the baby. ||The service is good, we were welcomed with fresh fruits and a bottle of wine and our clothes were washed as well.||Disadvantage is that nobody is staying at or near the location, so you have to arrange arrival & payment over the phone. But the owners were easily reached.||Take some warm clothes for in the evenings and for when you arrive (house still has to be heated then)....

Het 3 sterren appartement heeft zijn charmes voor wie geen luxe wenst. Het is authentiek ingericht en de tuin is erg mooi aangelegd. Er zijn naast de vele pluspunten die de anderen in reviews hebben gegeven ook wat bezwaren te melden n.l. de weg er naar toe is hobbelig, smal en erg stijl. Met Google maps kom je precies bij het goede adres, maar in het donker twijfel je of de navigatie wel juist is en je rijdt dan verder op een weg met putten en kuilen, niet doen dus, want Google maps is heel precies (Er wordt dan aangegeven om verder te lopen, niet doen dus) en (terug) draaien is levensgevaarlijk, dus niet verder rijden!! Even goed kijken en je staat dan voor het hek en je ziet het gele (okerkleurige) bord links. De ontvangst is voortreffelijk en binnen is alles goed verzorgd (dat zouden wij 5 sterren geven). De bedden en de toiletten zijn prima. WIFI binnen is ons niet gelukt, buiten hebben we wel verbinding, Bij goed weer is het aangenaam in de prachtig aangelegde tuin, maar het is even wennen, want je hoort steeds honden blaffen (niet echt storend, maar ik meld het even). Vanuit deze plek doe je er ongeveer 20 minuten over om naar Puerto de la Cruz te gaan. Als je naar de Teide (de vulkaan) wilt rijden hebben we niet de TF 21 genomen (de weg is in de winter vaak gesloten), maar de westelijke route via de TF 32 en terug via de TF 24. Deze route werd ons aanbevolen en is zonder meer te verkiezen boven de TF 21. Je moet dan de navigatie instellen op het informatiecentrum bij de Teide (even opzoeken in Google). Je kunt tijdens de route schitterend wandelen in het vulkanisch gebied links en rechts van de weg. Ook hier doet Google maps het uitstekend. Ik vermoed dat mensen die voor Rural Las Llanadas kiezen niet geporteerd zijn voor het zuiden met zijn pretparken. Een opsteker vonden wij Puero de La Cruz, vooral de Botanische tuin en de strandwandeling. Bij minder weer is het juist daar zonnig. Wie van "groen" houdt kan het beste naar het Parque Ruaral de Anaga gaan, minder druk dan het zuiden en de uitzichten zijn prachtig. Let wel dat de wandelingen daar flinke hoogte verschillen hebben en bij nat weer kan het glibberig en mistig zijn, maar het landschap is daar uniek. Als je een auto huurt én een fiets heb je het helemaal voor elkaar. De weg naar de Teide is als je goede fietsbenen hebt zonder meer aan te bevelen. In Anaga heb ik ook fiets enthousiasten gezien. (Je moet als bestuurder 1,5 meter afstand van de fietsen voor je houden!) Verder is Tenerife, zeker in het zuiden erg toeristisch en (te) druk. Een week is voor ons prima. Wil je wandelen?
