Olazi — Hotel in Oiartzun

Selected this place after reading reviews on trip-advisor. It was a half way stopover for us between Lyon & Gijon. Our satnav found the winding steep track but we could not have managed without the painted signs put up at various junctions. The position of this 'alpine' style house is stunning with jaw dropping views from all rooms. Ours looked out over the village in the valley. The room was large, attractive and clean but sadly cold, not in temperature but it lacked any attempt at homeliness. The owners were super, friendly and helpful. They guided us to a small cafe/restaurant in the village, 'The Arizpe' which we decided to walk down to for dinner so we could have wine. Walking back was hard work. You certainly could not tackle it if you were unfit. In addition there are no lights on the track whatsoever, so out side of the long days of summer this could be a real problem. Breakfast which was an additional payment was very disappointing. Everything on the table was out of packets or cartons apart from a little fruit. There was no bread, cheese or meat available. Bearing in mind the situation of this house there is a massive opportunity for the owners to provide bigger, better breakfasts and perhaps evening meals. I am sure most of thier guests would opt to eat in rather than tackle the north face of the Eiger...

Esta casa y su entorno, ofrece una experiencia única de naturaleza..vistas impresionantes, aire limpio con prados llenos de vacas y pastoreo. Es una oportunidad unica para relajarse a 12 km de San Sebastian y 30km-40km de Biarritz(Francia). No tuve claro como iban a ser las habitaciones,hasta que no llegue a la casa.Hay una diferencia importante entre la presentacion de la casa en internet y la realidad.Me sorprendió gratamente la calidad del suelo(madera)y la limpieza que había. Solo puedo agradecer a Iosune y Leire por cada día que nos arreglaban las camas y dejaban todo recogido (incluso si dejabas algo en el tendedero, te lo empaquetaba y te lo dejaba en la habitación).Las habitaciones tienen plato ducha(limpisimo,como en casa),la sabanas muy limpias y ofrecen toallas. (También reponen papel higiénico).En la cabina de ducha hay dispensador tanto de champu como de gel ducha.Ventanas climalit,oscilo batientes,que permite ventilar por la noche la habitación. Un detalle ....hay mucho mosquito y ellos te dejan en la habitación un repelente mosquitos eléctrico, que se agradece. Al principio pensaba que era ambientador.

El desayuno,muy recomendable,por 4,50euros.Te ofrecen café/leche, mantequilla Reny Picot, pan buenisino, tostado, mermelada casera,yogourt,nueces/avellanas, a quien le gustan las magdalenas,(de buena calidad )y lo mejor.. el zumo natural, con pulpa. El comedor es precioso y limpisimo.

Tienen una sala de estar (con chimenea, que da un aire de calidez y bienestar),justo en la entrada, donde se pasan ratos agradables, ya que los tres ,tanto Jon, como Iosune y Leire están muy pendientes de los huespedes. Jon es un gran comunicador. Intenta ayudarte desde el primer momento ,haciendo rutas personalizadas, en función de los "gustos"de cada uno,ya que conoce muy bien la zona.

El jardín es muy cuidado,no le faltan detalles. No tuvimos problemas con el Wifi .No teníamos tv en la habitación, pero ni falta que hizo. Tienen habitacion donde dispone de Tv..nosotros no quisimos. Para llegar en coche a la casa, creo que es la ruta más bonitas que se pueden hacer. Camino estrecho con vistas únicas.No hay peligro, al ser sentido único, es seguir los indicadores con "Casa Olazi".Disponen de parking proprio.

Recomiendo mucho la Casa Olazi por su limpieza ,por el entorno y sobre todo por la amabilidad y buena gente que son los propietarios....

We spent a week at Olazi and enjoyed every moment. Jon and María Jesús were great hosts. Unusually for us, we arrived without having done any research into the area and not knowing what there was to do. However, everyday Jon had a new and different itinerary for us to follow that was chosen according to our interests. He knows the area like the back of his hand, has extensive historical knowledge and a great sense of humor! Both Jon, María Jesús and their son, Gohaitz are warm, helpful and welcoming.||||The rooms are very clean (and cleaned daily), the breakfast plentiful and the setting is beautiful. I cannot recommend a stay in Olazi...
