This was our second visit and was even better than we remembered from our first time.|Situated about an hour's drive from Valencia, Finca La Mixtura provides a peaceful escape while remaining accessible to nearby attractions. It sits nestled in the tranquil surroundings of Ontinyent, and offers a luxurious and intimate retreat.|As you turn the final corner on the drive you behold the wonderfully restored castle sitting proudly once more in the Ontinyent countryside.||It really is superb boutique hotel made even better by the warm hospitality of Mark and Inge who work wonderfully well as a team to ensure your stay is fantastic. You read the reviews and you think no place can be that good, it’s even better.||The restoration itself is a credit to both of them. Step inside to really experience what true hospitality is all about. You are greeted by Mark who will take you to your room after completing the check in and demonstrate the facilities within your room and a good general overview of the services of the hotel.||The on-site restaurant, Mélange, is a standout feature. We tried the 4-course tasting menu, which offers creative interpretations of traditional Spanish cuisine. Inge, the chef, is celebrated for her culinary expertise, and Mark, the sommelier, is commended for curating an excellent selection of local and regional wines. They have set the bar very high for good food in Ontinyent.||Breakfast is an absolute delight with fresh fruit, breads, selection of meats, jam and natural yoghurt with seeds and blueberries.||Can't...
Read moreFinca La Mixtura is found on a hill outside Ontinyent and the building dates from 1850. Nicely renovated in 2024 by the Belgian owner, the hotel offers 8 rooms over 2 floors. Without a GPS the place is extremely hard to find. Furnishings and decoration provide a quality atmosphere. The hotel has a restaurant; wind covered terrace, and a large outdoor pool. Free parking at the premises. Service by the owners is friendly and helpful.||We had a large room at floor 2. Our comfortable room had, air-co, TV, club chair, wardrobe with safe, and a good kingsize bed with poor bedlinen (cheapo fitted sheet & top-cover). We had a spacious separate bathroom with washbasin, shower & toilet, and a large private balcony with bench, and coffee table. All was very clean. Day & nigh our room had an unpleasant humming sound, most likely from the washing room downstairs.||At the table the owners are serving a good breakfast: cold cuts & cheeses, bread & rolls, yoghurt with cereals, fruit-salad, fresh orange-juice, preserves, ands tea & coffee made to order. No eggs. Finca La Mixtura is a charming and comfortable hotel, and we had a pleasant stay. Highly...
Read moreWhat a fabulous stay at Finca La Mixtura, we were warmly welcomed by Mark & Inge and shown to our room, we had reserved room 1 with the Hamman and roof terrace, which was very tastefully furnished, however Mark kindly showed us the other available rooms which were equally impressive and all with a different theme. The Finca has been thoughtfully renovated, and a lot of time, effort and expense has been ploughed into this beautiful boutique hotel. We choose the 4 course set dinner, which I have to say was probably one of the best meals we have ever had and we have travelled all over the world. Inge is a superb cook and the food was simply sublime. The hotel has a lovely pool area and tranquil surroundings. We could not recommend highly enough for a few days break or en route stopover and plan to return...
