This is an in depth review of a 5 nt all inclusive (AI) stay of a trip here, which we came back from yesterday, booked via a Jet2 package. 🙂 After meticulously checking reviews, on here I had a good idea of what to expect, so thank you to those who reviewed as it, was helpful so will remain as objective as I can, and not repeat bits too much that have already been mentioned! It’s a massive hotel…biggest I’ve ever stayed in and is an impressive hotel. The foyer and features (greenery impeccably maintained by gardeners every morning, bridges, waterfall, fountain etc) this also means there is plenty of areas for everyone and it doesn’t feel like you are on top of each other. Sunbathing areas of course get busy but it seemed as though there was plenty of availability just prime areas naturally filled quickest. Plenty of quiet & shadier spots for everyone around the pools. Let’s start with pros! (In no particular order) + Great value, we went all inclusive and thought it was a great deal for what was included. + Aquagym - hilarious and great fun. Lady that took class, was energetic and enthusiastic. Around 20 minutes so it felt like you had been productive, and not too long that it felt like you were actually enrolling in a fitness boot camp! + Gym - following on from above point this isn’t highlighted enough and sorry not have taken a photo but it’s actually DOUBLE the size of what you see in the stock photos. Cardio one side, and weights the other. Only one machine out of action, and I’d like to just let management know if possible to acquire some clips to hold the weights on bar…I could not find them, and hence didn’t feel safe to use! Plenty of other kit to use so this is a minor point, but it’s great to have good maintenance, which leads me onto next point… + Considering the vast size of hotel & surrounds, and being somewhat out of season, it was largely well maintained in my opinion. No maintenance noise at all, which some have mentioned in previous reviews. + Staff - again what I experienced, was entirely different, to what had been in mixed reviews. ALL staff, over a 6 day stay were super ✨s. They work tirelessly and likely already having done a busy high season, they were fantastic. A credit to themselves, and the hotel. The reception team helping us check in were polite & efficient, even happy to help with a chuckle when I had managed to lock cars key in room (!) helped making no fuss at all. Bar staff effortlessly putting together drinks (helped by premixed jugs - slightly sceptical of this but for the sheer volume and speed of service expected, this is a good system…Pina Colada’s and Sangria are our recommendations…the Planter’s punch which I expected to be similar to Mojito isn’t!, and think could do with abit of tweaking. A mojito or similar would be very welcome on AI 🙏 Restaurant staff, the ones that seemed to get the most flack were brilliant. Working fast and non stop turning tables, to meet guest expectations. 2 individuals in particular that I’d like to mention (sorry that I didn’t get your names but hopefully you’ll know who they/you are) a sweet lady who did most of our breakfast services and some evening was especially lovely. Secondly a gentleman who did a majority of our lunch service, had learnt by the last sitting, that we enjoyed a glass of Sangria with our meal and automatically brought this to our table 😎 this seemingly small gesture, has a big impact when you’re a guest in a large hotel and shouts to me that this a member of your team that is priceless. Thank you to you all for making our trip and everyone that walks through your doors has a lovely holiday. I have plenty more to say but I’m sure this is already a very lengthy review but covers in detail a few things future guests may appreciate when coming to stay. Thank you 😇 Lucy & Aunty Julie, Devon. Short: nice but generic mass tourism hotel with a unique touch. Long: Stayed there in November/Dezember 2023. It never felt overcrowded. In general you get a typical "mass-tourism" hotel, everything (pool, gym, spa, shop, restaurants, bars, car rental)is on site and you don't need to leave it. LOCATION: it is the easternmost hotel in costa calma, if you want to visit the town you have to walk about 10 to 15 minutes (longer ifyou want to reach the towns center with shops and restaurants) but you can walk along the shoreline;) There are two beaches closeby one to the West (in costa calma) one to the east (about 5 minutes of walk, there is a surf school too) when we were there none were crowded, if it's main season i think the eastern beach will be less crowded because it's a little far from other tourist locations. You can also go to a little cove beneath the hotel but we found it difficult to get into the water there because it's quite rocky and we had stronger waves coming in. HOTEL: As mentioned all amenities you expect in a huge hotel are there: -3 outdoor pools one of them infinitylike with oceanview -spa with one small sauna (2-3 persons), two steam saunas an indoor pool with whirlpools etc) you have to pay to use it -free gym with some dumbells, one barbell and some machines, a "relax-room" with yoga equipment and a cardio secion with treadmills crosstrainers and bikes -games like tabletennis, minigolf etc ( we didn't use, don't know if they are free) -lots of bars, entertainment like artists at night and nice public areas or lobby areas with comfortable seats The main selling point for me was the unique style. The hotel is built like a castle and has some features in the architecture that make it stand out amongst other hotel complexes (see fotos) it s built in a slope, main entrance is on 6th floor, access to the yard with pools is on the 3rd floor and the yard itself is styled in terraces. So you can have a nice oceanview from nearly anywhere in the yard. I really enjoyed this architectural/landscape feature because you didn't get the "hotel-complex"vibe that strong. ROOMS: nothing too fancy here, clean as you expect, big bathroom with a beautiful bathtub, be sure to book with balcony (some rooms don't have one). We also booked "seaview" so our room faced to the sea (southside). I think you see the sea from almost any balcony(due to the way the hotel is located) but I'm not sure how they define "seaview" STAFF: professional, very friendly, multilingual (fluent in English and most also German), there are also some cats (they don't seem like strays but rather healthy and clean) and I never saw staff treat them badly (even if they had to be chased away from restaurant areas) more interacting like with a pet. FOOD: plentiful, good quality, seafood each day, local foods and international, buffet with lots of choices (vegetarian easily possible, not sure if vegan, some glutenfree products, many kind of milks cow, soy, almond and many more) staff was quick to refill platers but sometimes, the dishes got cold...I never stayed hungry;) WHAT TO DO THERE: of course you can just relax in the hotel. You can also visit the beaches and costa calma (on foot), there you find lots of sea related activities espacially surfing/kiting. Everything else you need to book a guided tour or rent a car(AVIS is on site) or a bike (found a rental in costa calma). Costa Calma is small and I feel dominated by hotel complexes, ~20km to the west is Morro Jable a bigger town with nice rivera (and the starting point for a "scary" trip to Cofete). If you go by car traffic is nothing to be afraid of. Also there are some nice bike lanes

We were really disappointed by the service and standard of food quality! The hotel itself is beautiful and in a really nice setting however the service we received really ruined the vibe of our holiday. Out of the all the staff only 2 were nice and went of their way to give us great service. The rest of the staff spoke to us in very rudely and in an abrupt way and made it very clear they didn’t like British people. We were one of only 4 other families that were British and they felt the same. One older male staff member working on the pool bar was so rude to my husband that he didn’t go back up for the rest of the day. It’s not all inclusive as stated on arrival to are presented with a list with items you can have if you stray from the list are charged . The pool bar has an extensive menu, however if you’re all inclusive, you’re only allowed a cheese and ham Sandwich’ a hotdog ‘burger and fries and small pots of ice cream! We had a Problem with one of our rooms where the electrics blew. A maintenance man was called and was in the room for over an hour taking all the electric sockets off and light fittings out and still wasn’t able to fix the problem. I called down to reception To ask for my children to be moved as it was 10:20pm I was told that they had to wait for the maintenance man to ring them and tell them whether they could fix it before they would move us. I went and spoke to the maintenance man and he said we would have to be moved so rang reception back for them to tell me to call back in 20 minutes! In the meantime the maintenance man just left the room and we didn’t know what was going on so after 15 minutes I rang reception for them to agree to change rooms. By the time I walked down to reception which was on the other side of The Hotel got the keys and came back we moved into the new room about 11:10pm We we reported the issue at 8:50 pm. The receptionist was lovely. He was very apologetic and done as much as he could but he was on his own at the time . on the 2nd to last night we were in the bar. I went to the toilets only need to find a cockroach running around on the floor! On the last day myself my husband and my son had a bad stomach. The food was cheap quality but there was a lot of choice but very catered for more local tastes rather than International. We paid over 4k for this holiday but Whilst there we realised we could have got the same down the road for a lot less. The taxi companies are quick to come to a hotel to pick you up but if you call to book they do not come. We were stuck in Costa Calma for 1.5 after the taxis did not come to pick up us after booking. I called them 4 times and even went to 2 taxis ranks. I would not return to this hotel just based on the service. Shame as we were really looking forward to it.

I have had reserved a holiday to Fuerteventura in R2 Rio Calma Hotel.|Firstly, I would like to mention that most of the staff members are extremely rude and had a few encounters where the receptionists were not helpful at all. We have a joined holiday with my parents and sister, and both me and my partner and my parents are celebrating our anniversaries, therefore I wanted to do them a favor and take my sister over to our room for one night. When asking about this on the reception the lady said to me while rolling her eyes and puffing that the “housekeepers will have more work to do”. When in fact, I asked about this in the morning before our room got cleaned. |(By 5pm it was sorted out.)|And about our anniversary, my partner wanted a surprise and he asked if they could do anything for us in the room, same thing happened again, eyes rolling, rudeness, not being helpful at all, she had said that he should have booked in advance and the girls from housekeeping are leaving in an hour. He wanted the surprise to be planted by the evening when we returned from a sky bar because the al a carte restaurant is currently closed (this is an other issue) and in the middle of their conversation the lady took upon herself, made a phone call and just left my partner there waiting without even saying anything and she carried on with an other guest. |On our second night here, we went to a spa night with wine and fruits, that we signed up for, only so out of 9 spa equipments (jacuzzi, massage etc) only 2 was turned on. When we asked the staff told us “oh you need to pay for the spa in order to use everything”. My question is, I have paid over £3000, and I am not able to use the spa without paying? |Also, no wine or fruits. Definitely wouldn’t call it a romantic spa experience.|Due to the fact that 3/4 of the resort is under renovation we weren’t able to fully enjoy this holiday. The noise of the machines, the pollution and the dust it generates around the resort just makes you feel sick to be there. As mentioned, due to the renovations many of the facilities included in our stay we were not able to use them, such as: minigolf, al a carte restaurant, lagoon, outside gym and playground and the walk around the resort as the gates are closed. |We were not notified about this renovation that’s currently going on the resort which makes it be a huge misleading as we were not able to use 3/4 of the facilities we have paid for.|About the food and drinks, we feel that there is a huge difference between all inclusive versus non inclusive guests. The drinks menu offers little to no cocktails, one that reminds me of Christmas, and most of the drinks taste horrible. Definitely wasn’t able to enjoy cocktails on my holiday without paying for it, and even when I did pay, it was not made nice. |For any basic cocktails like a mojito, there is a charge of 6€, which I find outrageous. After 11pm there is nothing to do, the lights are very dimmed outside, no chance to play with cards or do anything, and also having to pay for all the drinks if it’s after 11pm, even though the bar is open till 12am. |The food in the restaurant definitely could be better, mash potato that is full of flour for thickness, meat that is not cooked properly (chicken still raw in the middle), expired apple juice and so on. |The entertainment was really poor, while being here we haven’t had one show that we could really enjoy. 2 nights in a row was just music from the speakers as there were no performances. The jazz bar is not functioning unless it’s Christmas or any holidays, on the website it shows that it’s included and functioning. |There is no music around the pools unless it’s pool gym hour. Having music while staying down by the lunges would help with the noise of the renovation. |There is also a horrible smell around the panoramic view of the pool, due to renovations. |On the positive note, housekeeping is amazing, the girls are really kind. This is probably one of the few good things from here. |The price we paid for this holiday definitely doesn’t compensate for anything we have experienced while staying here.|Upon checking out, we were not asked how our stay was, and we had to pay £50 for drinks at...

A Paradise, Ideal For Couples Who Want a Relaxing Break!

This hotel is a paradise. It is ideal if you are a couple who just want to go and relax in one place in which everything you need is there. The hotel itself and the grounds are huge, similar to a Las Vegas Strip resort (but without all the loudness and gambling). It is very quiet, refined and relaxing. I really wanted to give this hotel a 5, but have knocked a point off for 2 main reasons..... Firstly the bed wasn't very comfortable, it was a small double and quite hard, very similar to a caravan style bed, obviously this is very big point if you want a relaxing week, all the rooms may not be like this but unfortunately ours was. Secondly the catering situation wasn't ideal. The food was exceptional and there was always a very big selection but the service not so good..... the hotel seemed understaffed in this area and there was a lot of confusion about what to do when you entered the area, do you wait to be seated? do you sit at one of the dirty tables and wait for it to be cleaned? do you get your food then wait to be seated and if so, you would probably be waiting a while in which time your food would go cold! There was also confusion around the drinks situation, if you are all-inclusive or full board, there is no self-serve, you have to try and flag down one of the busy staff to get you one. In most cases you would usually be quite a way into eating your food before you were successful with this or in one case, we didn't get a drink at all. There was one evening when we made the mistake of asking one of the staff where to sit and for a drink and he got quite abrupt with us for asking as they were very busy and could visually and verbally heard doing so with others also (however I am not going to penalise them based on one member of staff, all the other staff were brilliant). One more thing in relation catering, Men have to wear long trousers or jeans for the evening meal, this was not stated when we booked or on any paperwork and as I only took one pair of jeans, had to use them every night. As I mentioned, the hotel was very big and was probably a 10 minute walk back to our room so there was no point in going back and changing out of them. Lets finish with the many many positives though as they clearly outweigh the above. Visually the hotel is stunning inside and out, the reception area alone was breathtaking when we walked into it, and when you go into the grounds outside everything you look at is picturesque. There are many activities including tennis, putting, table tennis and pool. There is a Gym, a Spa and evening entertainment in the club area. There is also a separate bar upstairs where a pianist plays the piano..... very relaxing after you have had your meal. As I said if you just want to be put somewhere with everything on site to relax for a week, I would highly recommend this hotel. If you want to be somewhere with a bit of nightlife with bars and restaurants then it may not be the right area for you although there is a bus you can get to those areas for €2.70. Other Things - If you like Cat's you would love this place as they have a mini Cat Farm with around 10 Cats and they mix in with you around the grounds. If you do want to venture out, go out of the front door and turn left. If you walk about 20-30 minutes there are some supermarkets and other places to eat and drink as well as a market on Sunday's and Wednesday's as well as the beach. Like I mentioned though, if you want a happening area you will have to get a...
