*Travelled with toddlers 2 and 3 years. ||This was the Mallorca we had come to try and find! It boggles my mind that there aren‘t many Tripadvisor reviews on Can Guillo, some of the guests while we were there were repeat customers as they loved it so much and considered their secret, and others, like us, astonished they had stumbled across it. ||||After a few days in a massive hotel-thing on a beautiful bay (which was quite stressful as people were reserving sun beds, the beach was packed, there was aqua aerobics etc etc), I was soooo glad we had also booked a couple of days at the end here to ‘try something different’. As soon as we went through the gate we relaxed. Birds singing cool shade from the bougainvillea, an 800-year-old stone building and a pool that was better than our ‘resort’ one. A massive garden green like an emerald and a huge outdoor terrace that we more or less lived on. ||||It's 3rd generation owned and you will find odd, but lovely quirks from the collection of 37 keys adorning an archway to pottery collection in the kitchen. Am also pretty sure that was someones' (quite fetching) grandmother in a sketched portrait on our wall. ||||Pros||• Real deal Mallorca, a working farm; you can hear the sheep bells tinkling in the morning as they move them. Goats, horse, donkey, kittens, cat and a lovey dog, none of which you will see unless you go looing for them (they are kept in a different area for allergies I guess?)||• The breakfast is in the most tranquil spot and buffet style with tortilla, breads, yogurts, omelettes, basically is huge. ||• The gardens, OMG, they are exquisite, a true labour of love. Succulents, cacti, flowers, just gorgeous.||• The pool. Heavenly, and as the finca is so small you may have it to yourself sometimes. ||• Everything you need, commercial grade washing machines, a little communal kitchen, shampoo and towels…spotlessly clean. ||• The Spanish owners are so lovely, and mostly out working on the farm, or making breakfast.||||Cons||• You will need a car (or bike if keen cyclist). But that’s great; it’s what keeps it so quiet. 10 mins to pollenca, 15 mins to beach. We preferred this to being ON the beach, we’d go early and beat the crowds, come back for naps and spend afternoon by the pool. ||• Breakfast is the only meal, you will need to either cook or go out. We had picnic lunches and explored other villages for dinner, one night had take out pizza on the terrace. ||• This place is simple and rustic and for the independent visitor. If you are after designer minimalist touches, room service etc this is not for you. But all is very well cared for and the pool and outdoor spaces are special (which is where we were all the time). ||||This is also a small child paradise, the animals, they have a mini playground, running around on the terrace, jumping in the pool, watching Paw Patrol out on the terrace before bed (good wi-fi). We could let them loose here unlike in the hotel where we were constantly watching and worrying. We would also do our pool time in blocks so other guests could have toddler-free time (and often had it to ourselves). Just be aware this is not an adults-only hotel (so don't expect it to be, although we were the only kid family there), and some areas are shared. ||||In short, I hope this detail makes up for the lack of other review information. When I booked I was kind of stabbing in the dark, but absolutely cannot wait to go back. We only stayed 2 nights but wish we had stayed at least 5. Total gem and a...
Read moreAs a family of four (children 15 & 12), we had an absolutely wonderful time at Finca Can Guillo early August 2015. We stayed in Apt 1 which was clean and spacious, it having two large double bedrooms both with ensuite bathrooms situated either side of a kitchen /diner. Kids down the other end, brilliant!! |No aircon, but not a problem for us, as we were aware before arrival, and found it comfortable enough with the use of fans. A delightful lady came to clean on a daily basis and nothing was too much trouble, promptly attending to an ant problem which was encouraged by our not sealing some biscuits! The pool area and gardens were extremely well maintained and the abundance of flora and fauna surrounding the property beautiful, especially the flowering cacti! We met some very nice families but never felt the shared space too busy. We often had solo use of the pool and could always find tranquility somewhere around the picturesque gardens if needed.|The Finca is very pretty, quaintly rustic, and it's setting perfect, it's position being close enough to the charming town of Pollensa and not too far a drive from the sea.The Salas family were friendly and accommodating, the animals and pets added to the experience, and we are all so happy that we had the good fortune to stay there. It's a special place, and one we will definitely revisit. We have taken away many lovely memories from our stay, in particular the hypnotic sound of tinkling sheep bells! Thank you, Baxter...
Read moreIt is a wonderful place in a beautiful setting. Stayed in April in a double bedroom. The room is simple but very comfortable with attention to details. The twin beds were very comfortable, there is a bath in the bathroom. Lots of outdoor space, delicious and hearty breakfast with something different available everyday and lots of choice to suit every taste. There is also a Tv, wi fi and a fridge in the room, and the room and bathroom have a good heating if needed. Table and chairs available outside. Big garden and animals on the farm. The people there, are very friendly and do everything to make your stay easy and pleasant. Room and grounds are extremely clean. It was quiet. It is a little paradise far from the agitation but not far from Pollensa (great market and restaurants about 15 min drive) or So Pobla. Easy to reach and to find.||It was lovely and I enjoyed it so mcuh that I was sad to leave. I highly recommend Finca Can Guillo. If you look for a comfortable, clean, friendly, quiet place, it is definitely the...
