Best Local Gourmet Food Experience at the Camino Portugués, Casa de Urcela.|This place is a hidden gem, very hard to find, right off Porriño, Galicia, Spain.|Best food we have had, so far.|Chef Rodrigo, one of the owners, has a lot of talent and creativity.|First we had jamón ibérico croquettes with homemade garden grown pepper marmalade  which was outstanding, then we had reindeer carpacciio, and the piece of resistan ce was the perfectly oven roasted pork shank with crispy potatoes and garden vegetables.|For dessert we had a local cookie cake drenched in dessert wine with a chocolate garnache. The remoteness of the homestead, in a wooded area，is both a disadvantage because of its remote location and a strength for a true getaway. A large garden with a small swimming pool are the setting for this all stone two storey building.||||Rooms upstairs feature wooden flooring and rustic wooden furniture, basic but comfortable with attached bathroom. It's quiet and peaceful, some might say boring.||||Food is a surprise, with gourmet cuisine. We had a fine dining 3 course meal that would set you back quite a bit in the city, complete with background music. Breakfast was simple but stylish with crisp toasted bread, homemade cheese and excellent coffee. The owner picked us up after we finished day 1 of our camino walk.. were pleasantly surprised by the place and puppies to welcome us also. Unfortunately we felt like we were in the cave as our rooms were not heated up beforehand.. the toilets are not very clean.. moldy and also one of the bed collapsed in one of our rooms during the nite. Nevertheless the host and the chef (host's son) cooked us one of the best dinners for our trip ! Breakfast was not simple .. we wish we had more to get us going for the walk for our 2nd day... still recommend this place to chill out but owner probably need to spruce the...
