We spent 10 wonderful days at this campsite in August 2024. Staying for so long allowed us to get to know the area and the warm, very helpful staff.
Its location is within easy walking distance of the village of Pradoluengo, where you can find supermarkets, butchers, a bakery, bars, and a marketplace. The village is also known for its knitwear industry, specializing in socks.
When we arrived, we enjoyed a lovely meal at the on-site restaurant—a top-tier establishment where people from all over Burgos come to dine. We highly recommend their famous croquettes. It’s best to make a reservation.
The campsite is new, so shade from trees is still limited. However, they have a wonderful pool, which is a great place to relax on hot afternoons. A lifeguard supervises the pool all day, allowing children to come and go as they please.
The facilities are excellent. Each pitch has its own water and electricity supply, and the toilet facilities are exceptionally clean.
You can easily go on nature walks from the campsite or rent e-bikes to explore the surroundings. We hired them for four hours and took a spectacular tour through the surrounding mountains.
Many foreign tourists come and go during the week, while on weekends, many Spaniards escape the heat of the bigger cities. Surprisingly, not many visitors stay longer to fully enjoy everything the region has to offer—which is a shame.
If you're planning day trips from the campsite, I recommend:

Read moreThis is our second out of season visit to La Trapera. Our preference is to visit out of season to enjoy the peace and tranquility. The site, run by a lovely, friendly family, is located in a beautiful valley. The pitches are clearly marked and each pitch has its own electricity and water connection. The toilet/shower block is modern and kept immaculately clean. Lunch at the restaurant is an experience not to be missed, the food is superb. This location is a paradise for walkers or cyclists. Directly from the site you have access to paths roads and tracks to suit every interest and ability. Our preference was simply to walk up into the hills along the stream running next to the site. We picked hawthorn berries and enjoyed homemade hawthorn ketchup for the rest of our holiday. A round trip (easy walk) of just over a mile takes you into pradoluengo, where there is a well stocked supermarket, banks etc. We cannot recommend this site...
Read moreWe had 4 nights here at the beginning of July. The setting for the campsite is beautiful. The restaurant really is a good as the other reviews say. The pool is lovely. The staff (mostly the same family!) are so friendly and helpful. The site really deserves 5 stars just for effort.
However, there are a few downsides for those camping rather than staying in the cabins (which are beautiful, by the way!), which is why I have deducted a star: this campsite is still very much under construction. There is no shade. The chemical toilet emptying facility was still not complete while we were there. The toilet block is brand new but was unisex while we were there. Plenty of hot water, hand towels and toilet paper provided, but no soap in the dispensers.
We will be back because it is such a great location. But we will give it some time for the owner to finish building it and hopefully install something to shade...
