Just to get the building site bit out of the way, there is construction in progress on an adjacent plot of land and this gives rise to noise during working hours. Probably should be completed by mid-2020. It is unlikely that the buildings themselves will affect the ambience of camping here, assuming that they are in character with the other buildings nearby. The camp is located in a valley surrounded by low rise apartments blocks on the outskirts of Ribadesella, about a 10-minute walk from the beach. It is also in easy walking distance of Tereñes, where dinosaur foorprints can easily be seen on the rocks close to the shoreline. There is a bakery close to the campsite and a supermarket a few hundred metres away. ||There is a bar and restaurant at the camp. I would not recommend the pizza as it didn't have enough filling.||Toilet paper, soap and a hand dryer are provided. There is hot water in the showers and in the bathroom designated for children but cold water only in the washbasins and the dishwashing area. The showers can be adjusted for temperature and water flow but the temperature may fluctuate markedly according to whether there are others using water at the time. So if you have got the temperature just right and then someone flushes the toilet, suddenly the water may become scalding hot so it is potentially dangerous. The showerheads direct the water beyond the shower tray so that the rest of the floor becomes soaking wet. Therefore it is important to ensure that you do not let your towel or clothing fall on the floor.||The campsite is generally very well lit during the evening. Overnight the lighting is off but the lights from the local streets and buildings are adequate for getting about without using a torch. The emplacements are flat and a good size, water taps are not too far away and there are plenty of electric hookups. There are also onsite rental units. The staff are friendly...
Read moreSpent 5 nights in total here , initially 3 nights then came back a few days later. Lovely site, plenty of space and very well maintained toilets and showers, there was someone there practically all the time keeping the place meticulously clean. Very friendly staff and lovely little bar, we didn’t eat there although we were given some delicious complimentary tapas one evening to go along with our drinks. There are quite a few cats and kittens roaming freely around the place which drove our greyhound mad, but even she calmed down after a few days of high alert, but of course had to remain on the long lead all the time, she’s not to be trusted . Great little bakery up the hill, delicious bread and pastries every morning. The walk to the beach took about 10-15 minutes and into the town about 30 minutes. There is complimentary WIFI but it was a bit hit and miss, which was no big deal. Really enjoyed our stay here and was sad to leave, thank you Camping Playa...
Read moreA real gem of a campsite. We were only going to stay one night and stayed for three. Owners very helpful and friendly. Pitches are a generous size and all have EHU. Showers and toilets are in an older block but are very clean and the shower has plenty of hot water and pressure. The bar/restaurant is lovely and the locally cooked food amazing value (well eating there 3 nights running is a bit of a clue!). The beach is about 20 minute walk for us oldies and is a sheer delight. A large sandy cove and if you keep walking you end up in town with all its shops/bars etc. We will certainly be back to this site and it deserves praise for being so friendly and amazing value (another bonus is about 200 metres outside the site is the local bakery and look up from the site at the top of the hill a large supermarket with fuel). So for us 5 stars and thank you all at Camping Playa Sauces! Rhod...
