Whatever you think you can expect from the pictures, double that in the real world. This amazing villa is located beautifully on a mountain with a breathtaking 180-degree view. Inside the villa, you will find a beautifully decorated house with wonderful (and air-conditioned!) bedrooms - each with its own bathroom. A well-equipped kitchen and a spacious living room await you. Outside is where you want to live your life. There are several seating areas - at least one is always in the shade - a really cool bar with an extra fridge for your drinks (yay!), and cabanas for relaxation. You are surrounded by a very nice garden with flowers and paths for you to explore. Clare and Doug are your dream hosts. They make you feel very welcome. They go above and beyond to make your stay special and tailored just for you - whether you want them close for tips, tricks, and advice or in the background. They've got you covered. Clare and Doug also offer to cook for you. We celebrated a birthday during our stay and had Clare and Doug make dinner for us. They gave us so much more than a great food experience (they can really, really cook!). They also created the most memorable night for us by letting us eat at the eco pool overlooking Salobreña at dusk. Wow. If you like dogs, this place is heaven. Clare and Doug take in dogs and then give them up for adoption (yes, you can actually bring home a darn cute puppy). They let you interact with the animals if you want to. If not, you won't see them at all. It's hard to leave the beautiful villa, but there are several things you should try. You can walk from the house to the beach, which has super clear water, great seashell finds, and even a little taverna that serves really delicious fresh Spanish fish dishes. You can also hike all the way up to the top of the mountain. You'll find yourself above the clouds with magical views at both sunset and sundown. It is worth it! The location of the house is amazing. You have Salobréña on one side and Almuñécar on the other. You can reach both within 15 minutes. You can also reach Granada, Alhambra, Malaga, Frigiliana, and much, much more within an hour. The mountains and nature alone are worth traveling for. If you like the outdoors, there are plenty of fun things to do: hiking, climbing, canyoning. You can have it all. If you don't know where to go, ask Clare and Doug. They know their stuff! The area offers pretty much everything for a foodie. Whatever you prefer, please do give the fish, shellfish, and other seafood a chance. It's absolutely delicious. Again, ask Clare and Doug where to go - and where not to go. They know what's cooking in their area. We cannot thank Clare and Doug enough for two beautiful weeks at Villa Hermosa Colina. We will be back - because they also do events! Do not hesitate. Go!

What a great find! We booked Villa Hermosa Colina direct with the friendly and truly hospitable owners for a family reunion of six adults and it was just perfect! We also saved a nice amount and got a lovely free breakfast thrown in by booking direct. The villa is an easy drive (c.1 hour 15 mins) from Malaga and sits on a hillside high above the Med, with spectacular views both ways along the coast and towards the distant horizon. The grounds have a huge variety of flowers, plants and trees and Doug and Clare are happy to tell you what's what and pick you a fresh lemon for your G&T! Outside, there's a pool, jacuzzi, outdoor kitchen/bar and ample sunbeds to stretch out and chill out on - plus a few quiet corners to retreat to with a good book should you wish. Inside, the rooms are individually and interestingly decorated and everything we needed was there. There's plenty of room to dine inside or outside on the balcony to enjoy meals prepared in the well appointed kitchen. The decor is eclectic - lovely quirky touches here and there. Doug and Clare love animals (but if you don't that's OK as they mainly stay where the owners live further up the hill) and they had four cats and four dogs, which was great. Doug and Clare could not have been more helpful with information and restaurant recommendations and bookings, directions, suggestions for walks, etc. and we loved that they are so keen on being as eco as possible in this little corner of paradise. We found the vibe at Villa Hermosa Colina relaxed, informal, eclectic, fun, interesting and welcoming. Great hosts, great holiday! Thank you, Clare & Doug. Need to know: - it's a drive to the beach and nearest town - a car is a must if you want to explore the area - you need to be happy with hills - you don't get those views without being up a (fairly steep) incline - La Roka restaurant in Salobrena is great for a special meal out - Loved the market in Almunecar - full of all sorts of pre-loved stuff!

Superb Villa with the most amazing owners. We stayed here for two weeks in August 2021 and had the best family holiday ever. We booked the Villa and the static Lorry conversion which is located in a separate area with its own Eco Pool. The Villa is set high in the hills with the most amazing views, it has a beautiful pool (with a bar area) and a hot tub. What more could you want? Well actually, you do get MORE! We were treated to a the most amazing welcome meal and a fabulous complimentary breakfast. I also booked an evening meal for my grandsons birthday and I can honestly say that the food the owners provide is far better than any of the local bars and restaurants (and we ate a quite a few over the two weeks). In addition you also get loads of helpful free advice from the owners about local places and general information. If you are an animal lover, this place is a must for you! The owners support a range of animal charities, foster and own some beautiful dogs and donate a percentage of direct booking fees to animal charities. The gardens and grounds of the Villa have a tropical feel (It reminded me of places I have stayed in Bali) and you can even treat yourself to an excellent massage in one of the on-site Yurts. I would highly recommend this Villa and I will certainly be returning next year. Thanks for a truly wonderful (much needed) holiday.

Where to begin……difficult to find the words to describe the amazing Villa Hermosa Colina…it is definitely the gift that goes on giving ….and yes, I have been before. This place is paradise! I couldn’t wait to get there having had to postpone twice because of the wretched pandemic so I was well-ready for my holiday. The wonderful hosts, Clare and Doug, have not been idle during the Covid lockdown, they have continued to further magnify their beautiful setting, working in their extensive gardens to enhance the experience of their guests. As other guests have said, the location of the villa is stunning beyond words…indescribably beautiful views over the Med which you can even soak up when you’re in bed in the master suite, or on your balcony with morning tea, watching the sun rise over Salobrena or whilst swimming in the infinity pool, and then from the hot tub watch the stunning sunsets over Almuneca. And now Clare and Doug have built an incredible eco pool on the lower terrace, the beauty and tranquility of which can’t be accurately described….you need to see it to believe it’s sublime beauty. Wonder down the drive and follow the path to the pool (more stunning views!).as you trundle along the path you’ll be quietly startled by the sight and sound of 30 or so frogs and newts leaping into the beautiful water-lily-strewn pool. Continue round and immerse yourself in the pool….climb out, sit on the jetty and soak up the beautiful October sunshine…did I mention paradise? As always, the warm welcome of your hosts is the best start to your holiday. Nothing is too much trouble for Clare and Doug. They are available whenever you need them but also completely respect your privacy. More generously-spirited folk you won’t find…and nobody makes a gin & tonic like Clare & Doug, with lemons from their garden. My intention to be self-contained doesn’t last long…once you taste Clare’s cooking you will want to request more, most, if not every day. One evening they invited friends to a dinner party up at their home & kindly invited me to join them. It was like dining with old friends. Plus I had a massage in the beautiful Moroccan-styled yurt which was wonderful. Thank you Clare for organising that additional slice of heaven. So, is Villa Hermosa Colina worth a visit? Oh yes…and I’ll be returning in the Spring. Thank you Clare and Doug for the best hospitality at your...

Clare and Doug’s place is a special experience that we will remember forever and plan to return to. We were a family of 7 (four adults in their 60s, two in our 30s, and one toddler 2.5 years old). We were welcomed by Clare and Doug who remained readily available throughout our stay for whatever we needed. We opted to have a meal prepared for us on the night we arrived which was absolutely incredible. Clare showed us where the local markets were for fresh seafood, meat, fruits, and vegetables and was flexible to our schedule. The villa and outside surroundings are even more beautiful than the pictures depict. We spent so much time by the pool with ample places to sit and relax (many shaded areas at various points of the day expertly designed by Clare and Doug. We made use of the fridge, bar area, and kitchen area outside for drinks and food preparation. The salt water pool was exquisite. For our toddler the full width shallow steps going into the pool made all the difference – she absolutely loved it. They were also fully equipped with a high chair, a full size travel cot (which was probably the nicest and biggest travel cot we’ve seen), toddler sized pool towel, and some pool toys. The location was exactly what we were looking for – close to a few small towns that we could drive to (spent time exploring Salobrena, Almunecar, and Nerja) with gorgeous beaches, markets, lovely tapas and restaurants. There were minimal tourists and minimal English. We also spent one day in Granada (55 mins by car). My father-in-law is an avid bird watcher and noted that he saw 30 species he’d never seen before on the property alone. We had no issues with any of the appliances in the villa – bathrooms were beautiful, AC worked well, dishwasher worked well. Clare and Doug were the perfect hosts – warm and hospitable, available and responsive, and so passionate about the beautiful place that they have created. Finally, this review would not be complete without mentioning the dogs and cats on the property. Each of the animals was so lovely, friendly, and so gentle with our toddler. We looked forward every day to our visits from Kitty, Betsy, Morticia, and Puppy, and loved the additional cuddles with Mila and Flip Flop. Thank you for sharing your incredible piece of...
