Casas Alberto — Hotel in San Miguel de Abona

We reported Casas Alberto to Airbnb for malicious behavior, and are strongly warning anyone looking at staying there.

Casas Alberto, at the time of booking promised: Electricity Internet connection Teleworking Hot Tub And by imagery, looked like it had a guest room. In Spanish however, it said not to have any guests, which, for a young family staying for 6 months just does not work. We were not alerted to this up front. Upon reminder by management after our guest arrived we made a deal and paid extra. On site was a closed hot tub, multiple weekly electricity and internet outages that had to be fixed by the tenants. It was cold, damp, and the management was not able to keep up with arriving tenants or the failing infrastructure. The advertisement for teleworking is very misleading as there is not even phone reception in the area. In the end the host stalled us with the deposit until we couldn’t leave a review anymore. Then she turned around and put a bad review on our Airbnb page, based on lies from her incapable local manager. On top, she claims that she will keep our deposit, due to us not respecting the rules, which we clearly did once alerted to. Do not fall for this false...

Home away from home. We had a fabulous time at Casas Alberto and can’t wait to return. Apartments are very big, bed comfortable and lots of space to relax. Nice outside sitting area and also a designated quiet area on the property. Shared outside bbq/grilling space and chill zones. Beautifully decorated with the most amazing plants and decorations (was very jealous of how healthy and beautiful the succulents were). Apartment was equipped with everything you could need and more. Cosy log fire upstairs for when it gets a bit nippy on the evening. Fresh produce available to buy. It’s only 20 minutes from the airport but would definitely recommend renting a car for the time of your stay as it is up the mountain. Very quiet area, nice and chilled with lovely views and walks. Such a nice feel and vibe about the place, the wonderful couple that run it were so friendly and helpful. Really nice people. Wat een heerlijke relaxte plek! Wij zaten in Casa del Medio, een gezellig Canarisch gestyled huisje met alles wat je nodig hebt. En de bonus is de fantastische overkapte 'Balinese' buitenzit. Lekker elke ochtend in de zon ontbijten en gedurende de dag of na een actief uitstapje in de schaduw relaxen op het daybed of in de hangstoel.

Eerlijk gezegd hadden we wel onze bedenkingen toen we vanaf Aeroporto Sur naar de accomodatie reden. De zuidkant is qua landschap niet het mooiste deel. Maar Casas Alberto is een oase en ligt in een rustig dorpje op 5 autominuten van het Parc Natural waar je zowel kunt wandelen in bossen en kloven als in het vulkanisch gebied rond El Teide. En ondanks het massatoerisme met name aan de (Zuid-West) kust zijn er nog genoeg unieke plekjes waaronder natuurlijke stranden en restaurantjes te vinden op het eiland.

Note: De buitenruimtes zijn niet meer voor algemeen gebruik maar ieder appartement heeft zijn eigen ruimte. In ons geval was dat perfect! Flor en Roberto hebben het restaurant gesloten. Flor bood aan een maaltijd te bestellen maar wij hebben hier geen gebruik van gemaakt.
