This is by far the most thoughtfully and thoroughly well designed hotel I have ever seen in real life. The photos don't do it justice. The spaces really have to be experienced.||The staff were all friendly, knowledgeable and very hospitable. e.g. we were shown to our room / the spa, rather than being given directions, we were a little late for lunch, but were seated with no raised eyebrows, and when my partner commented how much we were enjoying the sounds of nature on the bar terrace, the MD switched off the music for us (nobody else was there!).||We had lunch at the restaurant in the main hotel (Restaurant Fontane), used the pool, went for dinner at Celler de Can Roca (15mins away), came back to stay in a mountain-view room, used the gym, then the spa (separate from the pool pictured) and asked for a picnic brunch to take with us as we were driving up to France.||The lunch was of a very high standard and the MD recommended excellent wines to match our meals. My partner had terrine of sardines (starter), and I had a cod carpaccio (starter) and steak (main) - couldn't resist even though we knew we were having a fancy dinner that night! The atmosphere in the restaurant was a bit quiet, but this is perhaps to be expected in a hotel with only 16 rooms.||The pool area is beautifully designed and maintained, with lots of towels and plenty of choice of loungers in sun or shade at any point.||The spa had to be booked because it is for exclusive use. We had it to ourselves as a couple. You could equally book it out for a group of 4. The spa looks out over the mountains. I'm not uploading pics as I think the views should reveal themselves to you as they did to us. ||Cannot recommend highly enough - absolutely...
Read moreWe expected more. We agree the building and location are beautiful, but the reception a bit cold. Arriving at the gate, it is hard to reach the button. The check-in took forever, a good moment to offer a drink? Room has a beautiful lay-out and views. But we also found some negatives: two stinking bugs in the room, no decent cava glasses, to use the spa we had to wait 1,5 hrs and pay 190 euro extra and there was only one tube of showergel, not enough for bath and shower. To go to the restaurant you had to drive in the pitch dark on a road with nice turns. Upon request, the hotel offered to drive us, way more safe. Thanks for that. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were left in the ‘museum’ that is nice to see but a bit incoherent. Via an impressive bodega we reached the restaurant, where the smell was not so good. It smelled like still-standing water but not everybody was annoyed by this. The a la carte menu was more limited than it was in Mas Marroch, but we all found some nice choices. There are two menus a sweet and salt menu, but we decided for a starter, main and dessert. We enjoyed the food, wine and service here. Unfortunately I got sick during the night, but I was the only one. Breakfast space is not so cosy as it could be and breakfast was very extensive, but not so special as I thought it could be. All in all a nice experience but not...
Read moreThis should have been a marvelous birthday surprise for my wife... It turned out to be a complete deception. When one bookes a 4 star PLUS hotel you expect a refined experience with great care for details. At the arrival nobody was available at the lobby, we had to wait 15 minutes before check-inn. At the bar we ordered Iberian ham with a glass of wine and a glass of water. The waiter had to search for a wine glass downstairs. He served us a white wine which was expired (very bad taste). He served another glass of regional wine (nothing really extraordinary). the note was 12 Euro for the wine only ! (47 Euro for the ham and 2 drinks). A very abusive price for a very ordinary wine ! In the room, the drawers of the bathroom were filthy and dirt from the previous customer was still present in it together with a hair clip. My wife tried to put on her make-up, but he light of the facial mirror was broke. The bed sheet had a big 3 cm hole in it. At the evening we wanted to watch some tv, no foreign French channel available. There were 6 of them but non was working. At check out I complained. The person was going to report this to the manager.... no-one ever...
