This albergue was amazing! The hostess, Mercedes, was absolutely charming. She did not speak a lot of English, but enough, and between our poor Spanish and her English we got along famously. We got there mid afternoon and had not had lunch. She brought us a cold drink and made us a delicious salad. She also did all of our laundry and brought it to us all folded and ready to go.||The best part was the dinner, shared with the other pilgrims staying there. We’ve been in Spain now for 6 weeks and it is still the best meal we have had since getting here. All homemade from scratch with vegetables from her garden. Zucchini and leek soup, roasted chicken with fried zucchini, potatoes and salad, with ice cream for dessert. All accompanied by plenty of local wine.||We stayed in the separate cabin, so WiFi was not great in our room, but we could just sit outside on the patio if we needed WiFi. ||Our stay was wonderful. Our only regret was that it was only one night. We are planning to do the Camino again, and we will skip the rest day in León next time and will stay here for two nights.||A...
Read moreMolino Galochas is a real oasis on the on the alternative variant on the Camino in Villavante, just before Hospital d’Orbigo. Best described as a bed & breakfast, it of course may be more like a luxury albergue in its positive sense. A place mostly for pilgrims on the Camino Frances to enjoy and relax with fellow pilgrims. Maximo and Mercedes are great hosts, offering you a splendid welcome, and you’ll get a room of a plus * hotel standard including creatively, handpicked interior. I even had a balcony to enjoy the view of the garden. The place is an old mill, and it’s a real joy to listen to the water running below the house, and you can even watch the water through a glass window in the floor of the huge living room of the house. A very fine dinner and breakfast was served, too. A beautiful place in every sense. But please, take notice, that you’ll have to bring cash to pay. We were three pilgrims, and neither one of us did so. “No problem, “ we were told. “Just send us the money, when you reach a bank, “and received a great hug as farewell. I can’t recommend a stay with Maximo and...
Read moreA welcome relief from the Camino in this really beautiful location. Our host was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was fine as was the bathroom. As it is out of town we booked in for the dinner which was “ok” but over priced for what it was. |We had a lively stay but I think more could be offered for dining. As mentioned the evening meal was expensive for what was a very basic meal and breakfast was not good enough. We were all on the Camino so a decent breakfast gets the day off to a good start. We were offered a toasted roll with jam, tea or coffee and we were welcome to have an apple or orange. Oh and there was small plain yoghurts. Needless to say, I started my day with an empty stomach. One other who stayed the night headed to the next town...
