O sono Galicia is the best place I’ve ever stayed at.

The location is beautiful - perched upon a green hill on a cliff. You can see the ocean from the dining table, the beautiful garden, the yoga room and if you have a front-facing room from the window of your room. The house is beautifully furnished. Our room (apartment style with private bathroom) was spacious, had a comfy bed and was perfect for two people for a week. Everything is spotlessly clean. There are a lot of places indoors and outdoors to sit, have a coffee or drink, and relax - a reading room upstairs, the dining/ living room downstairs and many chairs and hammocks around the garden plus a pool and deck for yoga.

The food is superbe. The owners Christian and Debo are vegan themselves and so they know that vegans also like to eat well (something that many not fully vegan hotels often forget). I have been vegan for some years, we cook often and well at home and have high standard for eating out. The food at O Sono made us so happy and surprised us every day. Christian is an amazing chef who every day produces fresh tasty dishes. Breakfast (homemade granola, nuts, seeds, fruit, vegan yogurt and milk plus pan de Tomate), a lunch box to go (in reusable boxes of course), cake or cookies when you return in the afternoon and a delicious 3-course evening menu plus coffee and tea all day are included in the price (there’s always more of the main course if you’re still hungry). Everything tasted amazing, but was also balanced and healthy and we never felt hungry. We also never got bored because Christin made new dishes every day, often using ingredients from the garden (like tomatoes and herbs) and local components like the fresh bread. There was also a pizza evening with pizza made in the special stone oven - it was wonderful. All dinners are taken communal style with the other guests - a wonderful opportunity to connect with likeminded sustainability-focused travelers from around the world.

The location is great for surfing, but even if you don’t surf, there’s plenty to do. Debo gives a yoga class every morning (except Sunday I think) to get to started for the day. You can walk to a nearby very long beach along the cliffs where you can take even longer walks or just chill. There are many other beaches 15-30 min drives away, including beautiful coves. Since it’s the Atlantic ocean, the water is quite cold, even in August, but if you like cold ocean swimming like me you can still enjoy some dips. You can also do hikes to waterfalls and more. The only downside of this beautiful location is that it requires a car to get around - but if you managed to get there by public transit and taxi you honestly could also just spend a few days on and around the property.

Above all, the hosts Debo and Christian are wonderful. They go beyond to make the guests feel warm and welcomed. I had a cold when we arrived and Debo collected herbs from the garden to make a tea for me (I felt better within a day). Christian happily shares how he prepares the delicious dishes (I recommend getting the cookbook!) and both are happy to recommend hikes and great to talk to - about veganism, sustainable travel, Galicia or how they are ended up starting this amazing place.

Note: we stayed here in...

Just like your secret surfspot, O Soño is one of these places that you don’t want to share publicly and keeping to yourself. But since small businesses can exist only by word of mouth, here is our stellar review.

O Soño is a small guesthouse with the utmost attention to details by the host Debo and Christian. At the end of a street, so no noisy neighbours, just the sound of the waves and the seagulls.

Very clean and comfortably large beds, in the utmost relaxed environment with views over the large beach that allows watching the waves roll in. Even when the weather gods temporarily switched to Galician rain for a couple of hours (it's always sunny again after the sprinkles), it’s an absolute pleasure to be at the common table to read, sip a drink and relax.

VEGAN Before the trip I was a bit apprehensive of going vegan for 2 weeks, fearing cravings of meat and cheese products. But the divine vegan cooking by chef Christian who offered a plant-based 3 course in the evenings and yummy lunchboxes for the surftrips didn’t leave me or the family hungry. Best of all, between the surfing and the food, I lost nearly 4 kilos in 2 weeks!

SURFING Everything is made to feel at ease with a nice quiver of ecologically built surfboards to a soft-top. And the hosts give sound advice about the best options to catch a wave.

YOGA Debo offers a daily complimentary yoga class with view on the ocean, nice and chill post-surf de-stress class.

Hands-down a much better experience than I would have imagined, with a very tough readjusting phase when returning back to the daily life.

We were lucky to being present when Debo and Christian celebrated the guesthouse's 1st anniversary. And here is to many, many more successful and happy...

A must for vegans irrelevant if you surf or do yoga. There is so much to do such as cycling, walking and enjoying the beautiful quiet beaches with amazingly clear water.

The hosts, Debo and Christian, are so welcoming, relaxed, helpful, and kind. It really is like they are inviting friends into their home. Nothing is ever too much trouble.

The accommodation is good, clean with plenty of choices of where to spend your time. There are also books and games to keep you entertained.

The food is probably the best vegan food I have ever eaten out in my life (and that is no exaggeration). We stayed 10 nights, we were never served the same food twice and you never go hungry.

The lunches are super delicious, packed with beautiful flavours and food combinations. I over ate every day yet still felt full of health due to the abundance of vitamins in the clean, healthy food.

The yoga lessons are given with utmost care, catering for each person’s individual needs. It’s like having your very own private tutor.

Each day when you come back there is a new freshly baked cake with plenty of teas and coffee options to help yourself to.

The honesty box drinks is the icing on the cake. Have a beer, a glass of wine or even a bottle. As with the whole place I would conclude; relaxed,...
